Katalon Studio: give it a try
What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about Katalon Studio is that it is a very complete and versatile tool. It allows you to carry out various types of testing, it allows you to upload the results of the execution of a Test Suite to the cloud, specifically on the Katalon TestOps platform, where you can easily see how the execution of each Test Case turned out. It even has CI/CD!
What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike about Katalon is that I cannot run the Test Suites in CLI format if because I use the free version without a KRE license, therefore I cannot perform Continuous Integration, which is one of the most frequently performed activities today for agile and large-scale projects. If it had this, it would be the ideal tool without a doubt.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As I mentioned before, the advantage that Katalon has is that it allows you to perform Web testing and Mobile testing in the same Test Case, which for the purposes of the work I do is an optimal solution.

What do you like best about the product?
Katalon studios is the best platform available for automating the test cases and writing scripts. User friendly UI and ease of working really enables the user to be more efficient when automating scripts.

Selenium provided better script writing UI than Katalon, but Katalon does have more features than selenium.

Ready made framework, ready to use quickly on any new web application, page objects , reports , test data and webdriver related maintenance is very easy and quick saves lot of time .

Parllel execution is not supported as of now , expecting in further releases

What is our primary use case?
What is most valuable?
The solution is very useful. We can uniquely identify the identifiers in a web-based application. Our automation script time is reduced. It is very easy to find. If we have ten projects, we can execute them parallelly. The solution is easy to learn. The integration capabilities are very beneficial for our testing workflow. The product is easy to integrate. It easily adapts to new changes.
What needs improvement?
Test report generation must be improved. It doesn’t fetch the right data. Even if we provide the proper screenshots, some are not fetched properly. HTML and PDF work fine. Sometimes, the client needs the report in Excel format. So, we skip the images because they are not properly implemented in Excel. Most clients know it.
During parallel execution, some reports are randomly switched. We perform standalone switching to avoid such scenarios. The tool would be better if it improves object repository handling, Excel properties, serial execution, report generation, and scenario preparation.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using the solution for four years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The stability depends on how our application works and whether an application undergoes modifications continuously. We can create scripts based on our products. If the product undergoes major or minor changes, it must be updated in the script. We cannot store all the objects. If one object is not available, the script will still work. If our application was in jQuery or Agile and is later updated to Angular, the application will go through a series of changes. These changes will be reflected in our automation screen.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Four to five people in our organization use the product.
How was the initial setup?
We use the standalone web application. The initial setup is not a big task. We can easily install Katalon. The website provides all the steps for installation. We can follow the steps and easily install it.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The tool is affordable.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
We also use Sahi Pro. Depending on the client’s requirement, we automate using different automation tools.
What other advice do I have?
The tool is very easy. We can resolve most queries ourselves. We can directly send queries to Katalon’s support team, but we do not contact them. Our team is large. We can discuss most of the issues internally and get the answers. I will recommend the solution to others. I do not use Record and Playback. I use the scripting method mostly. Overall, I rate the product an eight out of ten.
End to end Test automation
What do you like best about the product?
Katalon is quite capable in automating all our platforms and also providing a platform to manage all testing activities, scheduling tests and being a one stop shop. It was easy to adopt and the team quickly picked it up who already came from manual script based automation frameworks who found it quite easy to use and yet being so powerful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Licensing costs could be better, we fould limitations with automating Flutter Web which we have received a workaround for from the supportive tech and post sales team.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Katalon not only provides us with a faster automation times but also give us a single automation platform that's helping us with standardising testing across multiple platforms and team who were previously using different automation techniques for different apps.

What do you like best about the product?
The Customer Support Agent (Bhavyansh) assigned to my case was extremely thorough and helpful throughout the entire troubleshooting process with me. The level of patience and understanding was outstanding & helped assuage my fears that using TestCloud would work for any of my test cases. I look forward to the future possibilites that Katalon offers in regards to automating our testing.
What do you dislike about the product?
At first glance, Studio and TestOps seemed overwhelming as it was something completely new to me. Through the onboarding process and trail & error, I have a much better grasp on how to go about using the Katalon platform.

Katalon is allowing the company that I work for to automate the vast majority of our regression testing to help our QA team focus on more in-depth & hands on testing that is needed
