I have used Katalon Studio extensively for UI and API testing. Recently, I explored it further to transfer knowledge to a junior colleague, answering their questions and navigating through the tool due to my prior experience.

One of the best tools in the current industry
What do you like best about the product?
Its easiness to use. Even a test engineer without any prior coding knowledge can even confidently say about the automation testing possibilities simply going with the tool.

The report generated from Katalon studio. It should be enhanced to in a form of presentable to clients.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Simply the effort that we need to put for freshers in automation to scale up to automation expert. Even the Katalon academy also seems pretty good enough to understand different type of testing vs Katalon capability.

What do you like best about the product?
Katalon simplifies test automation, making it accessible even for those just starting out. It provides comprehensive support for Web, API, Mobile, and Desktop testing, all within a single platform. With an intuitive interface and advanced features such as BDD and seamless CI/CD integration, it streamlines testing workflows effectively.
What do you dislike about the product?
It may experience some delays when handling complex tests, and the cost of accessing advanced features can be on the higher side. Additionally, there’s room for improvement in areas like report customization and debugging capabilities.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Reducing the repetitive task to test features, help QA team to do regression test on every release phase

What is most valuable?
Katalon Studio is easier to use compared to SmartBear TestComplete. In Katalon, I can see the Groovy script and add a script immediately. The browser compatibility and self-healing capabilities are excellent, which helps keep the code updated. The object repository is a strong point, and I appreciate the ability to build custom keywords.
What needs improvement?
Extending the certification validity, especially after the trial period, would be beneficial. Providing clearer guidance during the trial period for certification and training modules would also help. It would allow users to build expertise and promote the product effectively.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have used Katalon Studio a few years back extensively and recently explored it more for knowledge transfer.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I used SmartBear TestComplete. I find Katalon Studio better in terms of ease of use, courses, and guidance.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I used the trial version of Katalon Studio, which I got for free. For TestComplete, I used an internal license as my organization was partnered with them.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
I evaluated SmartBear TestComplete.
What other advice do I have?
The decision to pursue certification remains unclear, especially after losing access post-trial. Providing better instructions during the trial would be valuable.
I rate Katalon Studio as more than seven out of ten.
Despite not exploring all features, it remains impressive based on my experience.

What do you like best about the product?
Katalon has great built-in reporting and integration. I like its capability to generate detailed test reports with screenshots, logs, and execution history. Its also a great tool to integrate with Jira and Jenkins which makes it a great tool to work with in Agile team.
What do you dislike about the product?
Katalon is a bit slow when executing large Test Cases and the memory consuption is pretty high which leads to crashes or lag in long test runs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Katalon Platform eliminates the need for complex framework setup. It comes with built-in Selenium, so we don't need to install libraries, configure drivers. It enhances test maintenance withself-healing and smart wait.

It's ok, I'm forced into it. I feel productive. I'll say it does the job well, accomplishes what we need.

The worst thing I'm battling with right now, which I added a post in the community for.
assert myVar == true, if that assertion fails, the test should fail, always.
I seems like it works when my test doesn't have a @TearDown, sometimes. That worries me.
I'm struggling with default values of variables. I don't think neither everything should be a GlobalVariable, nor I should have to define the each argument as a variable. Maybe it's just me but I find myself doing a lot of copy-pasting. In terms of a "scope variables", JMeter got that right. I have N tests in a folder, I can define variables for these tests once.
