Experience is Awesome On All 3 Family Netezza Systems
What do you like best about the product?
I have been working on Netezza systems for more than seven years. It is a powerful OLAP system. Worked on all 3 Netezza family systems, and each appliance comes with more power to new generation systems. Business queries performance is far better on Mako appliance. Netezza system is user-friendly, and one can learn this technology yourself by referring to IBM online guides.
There are many areas in Netezza which you can look into to optimize the system like Table redesign, Implementing CBT, queries join conditions, Express/Full statistics and groom and many more.
IBM has provided inbuilt contrib utilities to make DBA work easy and also has good customer support.
If one has little idea about shell scripting then can write many scripts to optimize DBA work.
Also Netezza appliance has a feature of setting up events which will send notification on any hardware component failure for timely replacement.
Netezza NPS upgrade is easy to implement and rollback by DBAs.

What do you dislike about the product?
Netezza has few drawbacks like you cannot control space usage at a database level, also need to contact IBM support to understand the internal parameters pros n cons
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Business queries that are critical to any business are getting the data in few seconds
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Netezza Mako system is a powerful system, but IBM is moving out of support for these systems by June 2023 and bringing a new Performance system as a Netezza replacement. Go with new IBM Performance appliance POC before going LIVE
Working with IBM Neteeza
What do you like best about the product?
IBM Neteeza is a very versatile tool and is a good platform for multiple data loads as your source. I have worked with Neteeza where in I had three different sources i.e 1) Oracle, 2) MS SQL Server & 3) PostgreSQL. It worked seamlesly with all these different data sets to pull in bulk loads of data on a daily bases.
What do you dislike about the product?
Many daily tasks cannot be performed from the frontend portal, requiring the admins to have some linux knowledge to perform the tasks, like backup & recovery for example.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use this as our data warehousing application to collate user data from various cross functional databases and based on that we are predicting customer behavior in the insurance sector.
Great tool for high-performance data warehouse appliances and advanced analytics applications
What do you like best about the product?
The most helpful feature of IBM Netezza I felt is its availability over cloud. Apart from this the in-database analytics capabilities of the application is very much useful to handle & manage the data warehouse of my client.
What do you dislike about the product?
Performance tuning features are a little bit limited that I feel after using the application.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helped me handle the entire data warehouse of my client, which included the various kind of data stored in different types of tables with varying data types. Easy to use and very much UI is user-friendly.
Netezza was a fast and flexible database.
What do you like best about the product?
The bulk copy feature of Netezza was really helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Netezza could provide cloud services too.

I was creating a connector between different databases. Netezza was quick to query.
Used IBM Netezza as this was the platform used by the client for their Business reports

Used IBM Netezza to extract various reports and adhoc analysis of data for delivering Business Insights to the customer. Most of the time have found it easy to use and handle various data variables.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Keep a note of important tables that you frequently use for your data analysis. This will save time searching for relevant variables.
well suited
What do you like best about the product?
well suited for use by a larger organization wanting to solve the business problems related to the collection, transformation, and dissemination of our company's business process information. It is not the solution for companies just wanting to run old queries fast.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used IBM Netezza DWA in dealing with complex Ad hoc queries and it turns out to be great in terms of performance. For reports also, we can use it
High Quality and relatively affordable solution for Data warehousing
What do you like best about the product?
Simplicity of operations and administration; HW based accelerator for compression/decompression that leads to consistent fast performance for all SQL operations. something even bigdata server can't achieve; integrate well with major ETL tools; Superb update performance - which is critical to DW. raw data load is actually quite good too for Netezza or older DB technology. Most of the business(98%) out there don't really need what google or facebook is using!
What do you dislike about the product?
At the price point - none; if i have to pick one; lack of advanced stored procedure support - in-memory processing / advanced data type. This was based on 5 years ago experience; lately. i heard many DB2/Oracle PL/SQL features has been migrated in.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Performance, performance, performance! at abt 1/3 price of the leading competitor price. General ETL performance improved by half of the time; General SQL performance increased by 5-10 folds easily compare to non MPP. Big differentiator for Hadoop too when it comes to SCD type 2 transformation performance
Performance improvement
What do you like best about the product?
Netezza Performance Server is delivered with the same load and go ease of use customers expect. No indexing or tuning is required, ensuring that the entire set of available nz utilities remains unchanged.
