Netezza warehouse administration review
What do you like best about the product?
The FPGA feature which makes the design unique and special compared to other warehouse tools like Teradata
What do you dislike about the product?
Although the appliance design was brilliant,we had faced issue in models like MAKO and Sniper about ghost sessions where session would not get kill until a clear restart.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Had solved issues on Workload management, performance tuning etc. Observed good improvement in system performance

The speed with which it can load and retrieve data

That the box is the box and it is not extensible unless you get a new box

The Reporting platform is built with Netezza Data Warehouse. Its giving very good performance which leads to user sanctification.

Need to make more user friendly, consult more end users for feedback.

Analytical journey backbone is Netezza. Benefit is faster read & multi user support.

Set up and dealing with updates in Netezza
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The problem that I solved was a big data problem. We had millions of rows in our database and I had to write some user defined functions custom to our business case. We were amazed by the throughput rate of Netezza. After having solved the problem in Hadoop with custom map reduce(It took around 22 hours) Netezza did it in 5 mins
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would highly recommend Netezza for customers who are dealing with large amounts of data. It is a fantastic tool for bulk inserts and comparing tables.

What do you like best about the product?
It connects very well to different sources and handles node bifurcation in a wonderful way. Also you can connect this to other downstream Applications.
What do you dislike about the product?
I feel there are certain limitations with few sources like XML, Json

I work Primarily with Datawarehousing projects and this tools enables me to execute my designs as well visualise it in a easier manner for me to analyse.

It's an easy to use tool. With a simplistic approach ,you can get all your complex tasks accomplished ina short time.

Few shortcuts which are right now missing in the GUI if added would make this a perfect tool

It allows us to work together simultaneously in the database to query our custom results.
It requires users to know the object name as it does not pop up in their text editor. Thus, users take more time in writing queries.

The most valuable feature would be the fact that it has been running for awhile in an appliance format.

The only issue is that it's not expandable.

In terms of features that I would like to see, one is the ability to actually scale out an architecture. Right now, if you buy one, it's fixed. There is no scale-up availability at all.

Scaling is the only recommendation that I can think of.
