Project Management tools made easy for non-project managers

  • May 19, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Monday.com is extremely accessible and user-friendly for users with all ranges of experience in business and project management software.
It's easy to learn, simple to understand, and excellent to get organization up and running with small or large projects, making communication with multiple departments easy and painless.

Everything "works" without hassle; even the simple functionality of the clipboard feature integrating flawlessly is something to appreciate.
What do you dislike about the product?
It was a little challenging to figure out why my account permissions would allow me to see some boards and not others and request invitations to those company boards I was missing.
When I was a new user, it would have been helpful if I could search for existing boards, see I was not a part of that group, and request an invitation from the board owner.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Organizing website and feature performance across multiple teams within our organization. My department uses it to plan projects, track data and assign individual tasks.

Information is easily accessible, and with our Monday boards we can see the points of contact for every project. All data is clearly outlined and simple to access and update.

It's good but not so easy to use

What do you like best about the product?
We use Monday to have an order in the processes within the company and it was really quite good to organize the tasks of each member, the status and delivery dates. My favorite part was the preset templates because that way you don't have to start from scratch but you have help.
What do you dislike about the product?
My least favorite part is that it was very difficult to find everything, from user experience there is a lot that could be improved, workflows, and button order.

If there is something to improve is to become more intuitive
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Organization within the company where we can all be on the same page without having to ask for status, being always online we can see the workflows of everyone else.

What do you like best about the product?
It's easy to use and interact with team. My favorite one is task tracking. It helps us monitor the tasks we are doing and determine which stage it has been. We used to monitor our work-from-home employees.
What do you dislike about the product?
In my opinion, there are some customization is needed. In the comment section, if I have a date option, it will easily monitor the task date-wise, but unfortunately, there is no option like that.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Monday is helping me to connect with our clients. My clients can track my work and suggest what changes they need. This is the only affordable tool I have ever been through.

User friendly, Project, Finance and tracking Management tools and colorful dashboards.

What do you like best about the product?
Monday.com have an excellent user interface with easy-tracking live dashboards and boards where we manage the daily base data. This tool also provides many templates for project management and finance, sales and CM board. We have the form option to track each feedback report to get feedback from another person not using the monday.com platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
Subitems and formula columns cannot be tracked in dashboards; if the formula column has some labels not able to add automation in boards that have dependencies of other columns.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have done cloud migrations data to the monday.com platform. It solves the problem of time tracking each person working on their project. Easy tracking on monday.com with the help of a live dashboard, workload view and calendar view. Automation and Integration help us a lot in sending notifications on deadlines for their task/incidents and automating some workflow dependencies. Integrating with other applications like JIRA, Asana, AWS, Gmail, google and Outlook got easy to send notifications and migrate data from other cloud applications with the help of REST APIs

Very robust platform that seems to anticipate my needs! I love the dashboard feature and how much manual work monday.com eliminates on a daily basis!
What do you dislike about the product?
monday.com has a few minor improvements to make, such as updating the settings on graphs/charts and keeping the workspaces organized.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
monday.com keeps everything in one place and has intuitive filters that help me to prioritize my work and keep others on track, too!

What do you like best about the product?
Custom Integration, Automation, Dashboards, Data security and control are one of the best features of monday
What do you dislike about the product?
The dropdown does not have sufficient automation and the Mirror column
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Monday.com is excellent in CRM, Project Management and has a straightforward user interface to manage daily activity and tasks; different data views provide an easy understanding of the data flow, which helps in better decision-making. We have used monday.com to migrate data from remedy solution to monday.com and mapped the data according to requirements in different views and dashboards with correct data view (card view, kanban, chart, workload, calendar) for better understanding and control over activities.

Helps you avoid delays because you can visualize your deadlines and track your progress

  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I am a consultant who helps companies implement monday.com. I do not use the solution at my organization. The use case depends on the client. Every company needs tools for collaboration and organization, and most use Office 365, Google Docs, etc. Around 80 percent of my clients are agencies, but they've reached the limits of what they can do in terms of collaboration with their existing tools.

Most of the clients who contact me already know that they want to implement monday.com, so it's not like I'm selling them the solution. They want something to facilitate their collaboration and communication.

How has it helped my organization?

monday.com is an excellent tool to follow your project timeline to see where you are and where you want to go. It's super flexible. Thanks to all the automation, you can do practically anything with monday.com.

It's great for managers. The dashboard gives you an overview of your team's workload, so you can see how long it takes for each person to complete a task. There are many kinds of dashboards, each with widgets that offer insight into what is happening.

monday.com helps you avoid delays because you can visualize your deadlines and track your progress. It can help you break down silos in an organization to some extent, but it's just a tool. Some companies think a tool will change everything. The tool will help you manage your files, but it depends on the company's politics and how people want to work together. If your directors and managers want to avoid silos, monday.com will help them do that easily. It's an excellent tool for collaborating across various services, but it depends on the company's policy.

What is most valuable?

I like the automation you can do with monday.com. You can automate priorities, status changes, notifications, etc. You may need another solution to create this automation in other tools, but monday.com includes everything. The Gantt view for project planning is also pretty good.

The interface is another area where monday.com shines. It is colorful and visually appealing. You can paint with colors, and there are multiple views. If you are the type of person who wants all of your information displayed linearly, you can set it up in lines.

It's the best tool for evaluating timelines and projects. The most challenging part is deciding how you want to display your information, but as soon as you know what you're doing, it's effortless to view where you are in the project and who's involved.

You can set up a simple project in under five minutes, but a super complex one might take a few days. I think it's straightforward if you know how you want to organize your information.

monday.com is accessible to non-technical users but takes a lot of time. They have many tutorials, and you can easily use monday.com if you can take the time to go through them and learn. When you initially create a project, it's only a board with lines on which you enter the tasks. You have some columns with the task owner, status, deadlines, etc. It is not that easy to understand all the features and how you can use them for your case, which is why people contact me.

When you implement the tool, you decide which layout to use and what information you want to disclose. I've seen clients who have been using this for three years, and they still only know how to do things one way because they haven't taken the time to understand all the features. It's crucial to spend time at the start and learn the tool. I don't think the learning curve is that huge.

What needs improvement?

monday.com is missing a few features but not many. For example, let's say you're working on a global project for a marketing campaign, and you have the video team working on it. Maybe the video team only wants a board that shows the packages that are related to them, but you cannot do that on monday.com. You can't have the same task in multiple projects.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with monday.com for about a year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

If you are doing a lot of automation, it can start to lag a little.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

monday.com is highly scalable. You can use it with teams of any size.

How are customer service and support?

I am a partner, so I have access to many different resource sets. I have never contacted their tech support because I already have access to all the information I need.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I use Asana every day, and we work with Optix. I've also used Trello and Excel. Asana is easier to use, but monday.com is more flexible and can do more. Asana is user-friendly, and monday.com is more powerful.

How was the initial setup?

Setting up the tool is straightforward, but you also need to consider the process that you're implementing and do some work beyond the tool itself. I have teams of 20 to 30 people, and three or four are usually involved in the integration. After deployment, it doesn't require any maintenance. It just works.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

monday.com is pretty affordable. It's cheaper than Asana. There are four tiers, including a free version. The free version is fine if you don't have any complex projects. One of the most advanced plans is around $16 per month per user.

What other advice do I have?

I rate monday.com a nine out of ten. I remove one point for the performance issues. I recommend taking your time in the beginning. Don't rush into implementation. It's only a tool, and you can't expect it to instantly transform your organization. Take the time to understand all the features and what you hope to get from it.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud
