Offers robust integration options for seamless application deployment

  • April 25, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I use JBoss Enterprise Application Platform for all our web applications, both internal and external.

What is most valuable?

JBoss Enterprise Application Platform works very well. It is very robust. It offers a number of good integration options and many facilities that are advantageous compared to Tomcat.

What needs improvement?

In my experience, it is more beneficial to embed all that into Kubernetes today. This approach makes it easier to develop, deploy, and administer applications.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have worked with JBoss Enterprise Application Platform for many, many years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

To me, the stability issues depend on how the applications are developed on JBoss Enterprise Application Platform. The main point often is how well applications in Java are developed.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I have found no problem with scalability. It can scale up as our business grows.

How are customer service and support?

I have not contacted Red Hat directly, as it is handled by other teams.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup requires expertise. In my use, as part of our already built solution to the cloud, it is embedded and takes just a few minutes to have a JBoss server running.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I would rate this tool eight out of ten.

A stable and scalable solution that provides excellent technical support with a good response time

  • December 18, 2023
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We host our JEE applications in the product. We also host web applications.

What is most valuable?

The solution is quite stable. We are satisfied with it.

What needs improvement?

It's hard to find out the root cause of errors.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for 15 to 20 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the tool’s stability an eight out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The tool is scalable. We have an installation using the JBoss cluster. I think it works pretty fine. Different customers have different numbers of users. The biggest installation has several 1000 users, but not at the same time.

How are customer service and support?

The support is very good. When we have a question, the reaction time is good.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We have used WildFly before. We didn't have any support for that.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is quite straightforward if we are a little bit into the tool. The time taken for deployment depends on what we have to do when we do the deployment. Changing the application is quite simple. Usually, we have to change XML files, update scripts on the database, and shut it down to make the changes.

It also depends on where the application runs and if we do the operations for ourselves or the customers. The deployment and maintenance are mostly done by one or two developers and operations personnel.

What other advice do I have?

I am a developer. If I were to start a software project now, I wouldn’t start it on JBoss. I know that there are approaches to split it up and make it more lightweight. Overall, I rate the product a nine out of ten. Occasionally, we ask Red Hat’s support team some questions. The responses are good, and they help us. Overall, I rate the tool a nine out of ten.

A reliable application server

  • May 02, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
There is a lot of documentation all over the internet talking about almost any topic of this server: How can you configure a database pool? How can you activate security? etc...
What do you dislike about the product?
It's not the fastest server in the world. Specially during the startup, if you need to use a lot of modules (datasources, EJBs, queue managers, and so on) don't expect it to start in less than 3-5 minutes.

Of course it might mean that your application is too big to be deployed fast enough.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It help us deploy a really big monolithic application built on top of EJBs specs.
