High availability has supported omnichannel ticketing and banking middleware reliably

  • January 02, 2026
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I have an application with JBoss Enterprise Application Platform and a middleware. I used JBoss Enterprise Application Platform for about eight years until 2016. I implemented a ticketing solution and middleware application to connect several databases and several languages, creating an omnichannel experience. I have two kinds of implementations in the commercial area, including ticketing and e-commerce with the same middleware, and I used it for bank financials. One bank in Guayaquil used my middleware.

What is most valuable?

The best feature for JBoss Enterprise Application Platform for me is high availability, and it is very strong. It is strong because it supports many concurrencies.

What needs improvement?

I lost one opportunity for licensing to a bank that was implementing on-premises. It was too expensive to license JBoss Enterprise Application Platform for each process. The customer needed to implement on a server with 32 processes, and the price from a local provider was approximately $64,000. Because they are a bank, they need local support, not international support. For that reason, it was too expensive for them, and we were discarded and could not implement the solution.

For how long have I used the solution?

I used JBoss Enterprise Application Platform for about eight years until 2016.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I do not have any problems with this deployment.

How are customer service and support?

Because the bank needed local support rather than international support, it was too expensive for them, and we were discarded.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I offered implementing the same services in Microsoft IIS, but they needed several months to develop the new solution, and they did not have time for that developer.

How was the initial setup?

JBoss Enterprise Application Platform is easy to implement.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The customer needed to implement on a server with 32 processes, and the price from a local provider was approximately $64,000.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I offered implementing the same services in Microsoft IIS, but they needed several months to develop the new solution, and they did not have time for that developer.

What other advice do I have?

I use JBoss Enterprise Application Platform management both through the management interface and through command line. I use JBoss Enterprise Application Platform for deployment in Microsoft servers, and in Linux and Oracle Linux. I am trying it in my own cloud and have deployed JBoss Enterprise Application Platform on Oracle Cloud to implement it in the cloud, which is very good. My overall rating for this solution is ten out of ten.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Jboss is one of the best application servers available currently and cost effective and secure for all java based applications. User interface is very user friendly and integration with web servers are very easy. Also we can manage almost all tasks from the jboss console.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing as such. Sometimes if a JVM heap is high the management console becomes unstable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This is providing a secure platform for java based applications deployment.

Review for JBoss Application Server

  • September 04, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
One of the best application servers available in the market. Interface is very easy to explore having all related functionality written in all features. One can manage almost all configuration and deployment from the management console. Also applying patch is easy from console itself. Red Hat vendor support is really good. Integration with web server is also easy. Managing SSL configuration also pretty simple.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing as such but it would be great if host can be restarted or reconnected from management console itself without getting into CLI and perform restart.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is helping us on deploying and hosting our complex applications. It also has features to integrate with external APIs in the domain.xml itself so it's pretty easy manage an application in jboss.

jboss middleware review

  • November 21, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like flexibility of Jboss; when it comes to logging for external components you can configure easily. Architecture changes like standalone to high-available can be achieved with few steps as very well documented. GUI helps to see if any runtime changes allowed
What do you dislike about the product?
Heavy configuration when it comes to application specific requirements. Developers find it hard to track environmental changes so microservices are better for CI/CD deployments. Manageability sometimes rely on manual or shell scripted procedures.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Active messaging queues, Customer adaption softwares which is written in Java. Benefits are in expansion deployments, EAP brings automation which same inputs can be automated via script provided by Redhat, that makes an easy when you expand your environment

Excellent Product and highly recommended for enterprise use

  • January 17, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
This product is very easy to install and configure with manual changes. Also, there are active forums where you can get quick help.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing to dislike but there is a suggestion to improve UI based installation which can take custom configuration changes like support for HTTPS certificate or SSL certificate. Also, create standalone.xml file with all valid attributes leaving end user to update as per business needs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using JBoss enterprise server with custom configuration for our product. This is very easy to customize and configure and most important it is free to use.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If possible, kindly provide a UI based installation which can take custom configuration changes like support for HTTPS certificate or SSL certificate. Also, create standalone.xml file with all valid attributes leaving end user to update as per business needs.

Solid enterprise grade application platform

  • April 07, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Highly robust lots of great documentation. Leading industry standard of web application platform. We were using Apache Tomcat and switched to JBoss as we needed a more robust and established platform for a very high volume OTLP application.
What do you dislike about the product?
Configuration takes a bit of a learning curve.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Wanted a very robust and high performance application platform. JBoss gave us the high standards and best practices in developing OTLP applications.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
For those looking for a robust and performant application platform that can handle multiple high volume OTLP applications, Jboss Enterprise will not be a mistake.

Robust application server

  • April 07, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Very robust application server. It has native support for J2EE and most features that I was looking for. everything worked right out of the box seamlessly with minimal configuration. Also ongoing maintenance was simple.
What do you dislike about the product?
The cost is a little bit higher than expected; however, the quality of the product justifies the cost. Hence it was a non-issue at my organization when we upgrade with the regular version of JBoss to this enterprise edition.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Hosting scalable web services as well as web applications. Benefits was excellent uptime, robust infrastructure and ease of use/integration. Also we never ran into any OOM issue or unexpected downtime.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Very good application server technology. Robust, easy to use with a nice admin UI. Never did we end up with downtime or any OOM issue (besides ones that is cause by bad code) once we started hosting our application via JBOSS.
