What do you dislike about the product?
No daily/weekly/monthly detailed logs. It would be great to have such reports to understand how much data flows through App Connect and if there is any issue with data loss.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helped to connect several platforms using their APIs. Moreover, it was really easy to explain to our client how to use this tool.

Cloud solutions for companies that want to innovate

  • August 04, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use, you can log in using the credentials of the company you work for or as an IBM client. Many customization options: creation of surveys, Blogs or Wikias (shared knowledge encyclopedias), reminders but, above all, cloud file storage. Without forgetting the "social" side: share files, links, and feelings with others.
What do you dislike about the product?
Difficulty of access for inexperienced users. Let's take, for example, an old company that wants to enter the digital age: the interface is intuitive, but the login barrier and the steps this company would have to take to "stay up to date" could deter many lazy people. I have met many business leaders unwilling to "these modernities."

This brings us to its core problem: anyone who wants to share files in a company (or in school, university, any cooperative environment) has much more open alternatives. Obviously, I am referring to services like Google Drive (and its failed social network Google +) and, of course, Dropbox. Personally, I have had more success in projects using these alternatives because, as I say, not everyone is capable of leaving the "laziness" of one system to join another. It is a fact that many people have a Google account, yet it would be much harder for them to trust an "external" application to those already on their phone.

These two barriers, I think, are what I like the least.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Create a privacy space with which to face challenges from a team perspective. Long-term benefits in terms of trust among employees. The possibility of "humanizing" the different elements of the company while still executing the "orders" and objectives it sets. Ultimately, you could achieve these advantages in many different apps, but the element of privacy makes IBM Connections optimal.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you use this application in your daily life, you will see that it makes life much easier. However, if your business environment is not very "modern," you will have more problems than conveniences. I recommend an explanation/tutorial to resolve doubts before implementing it in your company.

Intuitive tool

What do you like best about the product?
-Cast Iron is easy to learn, intuitive layout of the product and creating a feed is simple
-Handles large amounts of data easily (at least with on-premise)
What do you dislike about the product?
-Wish there were more user level to help with SOX concerns
-wish that with our physical appliances, we could load balance across several appliances so that we can mange from one WMC
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Cast Iron to do the following:
-Integrate our product databases with Salesforce
-Send and receive files with external stakeholders via FTP
-Generate reports for internal stakeholders
-Connect with various other cloud based vendors
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I believe they are reducing support and/or eliminating the ability to have on-premise appliances in favor of using cloud based versions. We have benefited from on-premise, especially in that it handles large amounts of data better.
IBM also doesn't seem to be investing in additional features, endpoints, etc especially when compared to competitors
