Great product for monitoring
What do you like best about the product?
I'm genuinely impressed with Solarwinds Observability. It's truly been a game changer for how we monitor our entire IT environment. What stands out the most is the unified view it provides. Instead of juggling multiple tools for different aspects of our infrastructure, SO brings everything together seamlessly. We can monitor apps, infrastructure, networks, and logs all from a single pane of glass.
What do you dislike about the product?
Despite the wide range and extent of data SO collects and the depth of insights it can offer, navigating the platform can feel like wading in molasses. The Dashboards often suffer from noticeable loading times and refreshing delays. What you would think would be quick, ie. insightful glances at critical metrics, often turns into a test of patience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
SO solves a wide range of problems that our IT teams face in managing modern, complex IT environments. It provides a comprehensive, intelligent and unified approach to managing our complex systems.
Single pane of Glass visibility

Solarwinds Observability has given us a clear view of our network
What do you like best about the product?
We’ve been using SolarWinds Observability for a while now, and it’s been a total game-changer for how we manage and monitor our systems. Right from the start, we were impressed by how easy it was to set up and the clean, intuitive interface.
What really stands out is how everything is pulled together into one place—apps, infrastructure, services, network traffic, system metrics—you name it. The unified dashboard makes it super easy to see the full picture and connect the dots quickly. Troubleshooting and optimizing performance has gotten way easier and faster.

What do you dislike about the product?
While SolarWinds Observability has been great overall, there are a couple of areas that could use improvement:
Pricing can get steep, especially when it comes to SNMP monitoring. The per-node cost adds up quickly if you're monitoring a large number of devices, which can make scaling more expensive than expected.
Some of the setup documentation feels outdated or incomplete—particularly for certain modules. We ran into a few snags during setup where the official guides didn’t match the current UI or available options, which slowed things down a bit. We had to reach out to Solarwinds a few times directly to see if we could get assistance, and in some instances it was hard to get help (Such as UCUM integration for connecting via AXL).

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
SolarWinds Observability is helping us get full visibility across our environment without needing to jump between tools. While we use all of the modules, our biggest benefits come from areas beyond just the basics like node status or hardware health.
Where it really shines for us is in correlating data across applications, network traffic, logs, and user experience. Being able to tie everything together in one place makes root cause analysis faster and more reliable. It’s also helped our teams stay ahead of issues with smarter alerting and AI-driven insights.
We're not leaning heavily on server agent monitoring or traditional node checks—instead, we get more value from the platform's broader observability features. It’s made a big difference in how proactive we can be and how quickly we respond when something’s off.

SolarWinds Observability for Business
What do you like best about the product?
The customization ability is phenomenal. There is great compatibility between a lot of different vendors and brands, and this is updated constantly. While there is a learning curve involved in SolarWinds monitoring, once you have everything set up the way you want it, monitoring is a breeze.
What do you dislike about the product?
As I said in the other box, the learning curve for setting SolarWinds Observability up can be quite great. That would be the biggest hurdle to efficient usage.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
SolarWinds Observability allows us to monitor our traffic and connections, and has enough data and logging capabilities that it helps us determine where an issue is present so we can contact the right individuals to solve it.
The Rollercoaster Ride of IT Monitoring!
What do you like best about the product?
The platform has an intuitive and easy-to-navigate interface, nice in depth dashboards for the device views, which makes it accessible to both novice and experienced users.
What do you dislike about the product?
While the interface is user-friendly, fully leveraging the advanced features can require a significant learning curve and training.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
solarWinds observability offers detailed insights into network, application, and infrastructure performance, making it easier to identify and resolve issues proactively which contributes less business interruption and reducing the down time for the applications . also providing better insights in identifying the issues using anomaly based alerts for the on prem network monitoring.
A good suite of tools for those currenlty without an SolarWinds Observabulity Self-Hosted license.
What do you like best about the product?
Dark theme out of the box saves on power and user's eyes, but more importantly the depth of detail avaialble on the behviour of applications monited via Observability will give developers insight into how they can improve their products.
What do you dislike about the product?
To get the most out of the product, and to close the gaps compared to it's more fully featured Observability Self-Hosted stablemate, you really need to have licenses for both, increasing the TCO.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Primarily my businesses uses it to get deeper insight into how the applications we use are functioning.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is a package containing multiple products that we use regularly
It helped us to renew one product rather than multiple different items
it has more features and tools than the previous version

Good observability system for simpler systems, but a downgrade from Papertrail
What do you like best about the product?
Nice UI. Fairly powerful alerting system. Cost effective. Fairly easy to implement by connecting it to our various microservices. Easy. We use it constantly since we got it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Slack notifications were significantly downgraded in the recent forced migration from Papertrail. It is a meaningful issue that hurts usability. Customer support has been unhelpful when it comes to this, waiting for their feedback for some weeks now.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The system has been pretty useful for keeping tabs on our complex IT setup. The platform integrates various monitoring tools, which simplifies how we track our servers, applications, and cloud services. It's particularly good at handling real-time logs, helping us catch and address issues quickly. It has pretty good alerting and helps us keep on top of errors in our various environments.
