PANOPTO - borderless to elearning
What do you like best about the product?
The Panopto system is a flexible and easy-to-use presentation capture platform that lets users capture, edit, stream, archive, and share recordings (video, audio, PowerPoint, and screen capture) that preserve critical knowledge.
What do you dislike about the product?
At this point, none for me. Panopto is performing well on my part.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Panopto helps teachers to record themselves and/or their screens through Panopto. They also create video recordings through Panopto Capture Online which are very helpful for the students to go back to the lesson where they feel challenged.
Great for Video Storage and Creation!
What do you like best about the product?
I love how you can sync an audio clip to Powerpoint slides with timing. It makes my job so much easier and saves a ton of time!
What do you dislike about the product?
The playlist and video settings could be better

Videos can be stored in one place, and we don't have to worry about storage limits.
Panopto integration with brightspace
What do you like best about the product?
Panopto is a helpfull tool for video media content and the best is you dont have to worry about storage limits.
What do you dislike about the product?
Brightspace uses and hierarchical structure (Faculty, department, course) and this is not so hierarchical once you have integrated in panopto.Often this really show part of this, but this isnt no a "mirror" view of Brightspace.

Storage problems
It is an excellent integration, it allows us to share our classes in the LMS.

Your recording, video streaming, and video content management.

At the moment, it seems to me that it is a complete tool.

Make training videos and searchable videos with PANOPTO
What do you like best about the product?
Panopto has many options to record, edit, store, and view videos my team uses for training. New hires can watch all the videos and can even search for keywords where results show what video and timestamp these words were mentioned by the speaker.
What do you dislike about the product?
The program allows for many camera views and audio feeds in the same presentation but can be limited in how to arrange them and in what order they appear in your final cut.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Panopto to record and store all of our training material for new employees. The vast amount of information that needs to be covered can be stored and viewed in a very structured and secure way.

Panopto is great but can be expensive.
A Great Tool for Screen Capturing and Collaboration
What do you like best about the product?
Panopto makes it easy to capture screen recordings and share them amongst teammates, making collaboration simple.
What do you dislike about the product?
Our team hasn't had a single problem since we've started using Panopto.

What do you dislike about the product?
For individuals, Panopto Basic is available at no cost, and Panopto Pro requires a monthly subscription, plus a small fee for each storage hour beyond 50 hours.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Buffering and video doesn't play. Try accessing the video through your LMS or SSO page. If this doesn't work, reach out to the content owner or your local help desk for access
really nice for recording and transcribing easily

easy to share links with users, easy to take notes and live stream as well

the interface is a bit outdated and not very appealing to younger tech savvy people

has helped me solve the issue of quickly set-up livestreams that are recorded and kept in a safe, sound location

Its integration with other LTIs and tools such as Canvas and Zoom.

It's not always intuitive to use. Data extraction can be easier.

It is providing course media content in an organized manner that is easy to manage.
Panopto Student User
What do you like best about the product?
As a student, it is helpful that questions are embedded into lectures as a check for understanding. While watching the lecture/video, it will not continue until you answer the questions provided by the professor! If you answer the question incorrectly, you can retake the questions.
What do you dislike about the product?
As a new user, it can be challenging to use Panopto. There is a learning curve; however, the platform is user-friendly. The program could improve if there is a way for students to see all embedded questions at the end of the video on the same screen. If this were possible, it would be easier to review all of the questions!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Panopto as a student in a virtual classroom. It has helped to recreate a dynamic and remote learning experience. When I use it, I am more productive because it keeps me engaged and on task with multiple checks for understanding embedded throughout the program.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Give it time to adjust to the program. The time it takes to adjust outweighs the time you will save in productivity long-term.
