Move machine learning from theory to reality

Machine learning models are being used to transform healthcare from predicting cancer and other diseases before they happen to understanding population-level risks and trends.

The theoretical benefits of machine learning and artificial intelligence have been discussed for years. The challenge has been turning that potential into reality, so that healthcare and life sciences organizations can better assess and treat patients through the entire continuum of care.

By using machine learning models to analyze a patient’s medical history, business can calculate their risk of being diagnosed with multiple diseases within the next year. Organizations that can predict the onset of serious diseases can provide better care management for entire communities, and save lives through early detection.

Perception Health

Perception Health provides proprietary CARE algorithms powered by Amazon SageMaker, a fully managed platform that is designed to enable developers and data scientists to quickly and easily build, train, and deploy machine learning models at scale—without exposing HIPAA-protected information. There are more than 14 billion medical claims and 6.5 million more added daily. With at-a-glance visuals, a spectrum of tools, and personalized expertise from data scientists, healthcare and life sciences organizations can validate strategies and optimize workflows that benefit providers, payers, and patients across the entire system. Perception Health’s algorithm can be licensed on a per-patient basis and run on AWS.

To launch a model, begin by subscribing to the model in AWS Marketplace.

CentraState

CentraState predicts serious diseases with Perception Health models

CentraState Healthcare System is using Perception Health’s disease predictions to better understand which patients are at risk for serious diseases. For example, CentraState has identified more than 1,500 people in the community it serves who are at risk for lung cancer and are as yet undiagnosed. Using that information, CentraState is implementing a comprehensive screening program to improve the quality of care for patients.

John Ulett's quote
The disease predictions provided by Perception Health will allow us to use advanced analytics to predict the onset of serious diseases for the communities we serve. We believe this is the next evolution of care management and CentraState is at the forefront.
- John Ulett, Chief Information Officer, CentraState
