Get hands-on experience with AWS and serverless applications at one of our free, guided workshops. In these workshops, we will introduce the basics of building serverless applications and microservices using services like AWS Lambda, AWS Step FunctionsAmazon API Gateway, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon Kinesis, and Amazon S3. You'll learn to build and deploy your own serverless application using these services for common use cases like web applications, analytics, and more.

Scenario: Zombies have taken over major metropolitan areas. The AWS Lambda Signal Corps has built a communications system to connect the remaining survivors using a serverless architecture. The fate of civilization is in your hands.

The AWS Lambda Signal Corps has built a serverless communications system using AWS Lambda, Amazon DynamoDB, and Amazon API Gateway to connect survivors. The Corps will be travelling across the globe to deliver workshops on building this communications system.

After introducing the basics of building microservices with Lambda and API Gateway, we look to you to add additional life saving features - food caches, panic buttons, etc. - to the platform. The fate of our civilization is in your hands.

 AWS Lambda

AWS Lambda lets you run code without provisioning or managing servers. You pay only for the compute time you consume - there is no charge when your code is not running. Just upload your code and Lambda takes care of everything required to run and scale your code with high availability.

Amazon Kinesis

Amazon Kinesis makes it easy to collect, process, and analyze real-time, streaming data so you can get timely insights and react quickly to new information. With Kinesis, you can ingest real-time data such as website clickstreams into your data stores, or build your own applications using this data. Kinesis enables you to process data as it arrives, instead of having to wait until all your data is collected before processing can begin.

Seven things you need to know before attending an AWS serverless workshop:

All participants must have an AWS account established and ready to use at the event. You must also bring your own laptop.

There is no charge to attend.

Basic familiarity with AWS and services like AWS Lambda, AWS Step Functions, Amazon API Gateway, Amazon DynamoDB, and Amazon Kinesis is recommended but not required.

Both workshops will teach you the essentials of building serverless applications using AWS Lambda and Amazon API Gateway. However, each workshop has a slightly different use case focus and each workshop may cover some different AWS services from the other.

Each workshop will last 2-3 hours.

We wish we could offer both workshops in every city where we are holding an event, however our supply of zombies and unicorns is limited!
