This credential helps organizations identify and develop talent with critical skills for
implementing cloud initiatives. Earning AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate
demonstrates experience deploying, managing, and operating workloads on AWS.
As of March 28, 2023, the AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate exam will not include exam labs until further notice. This removal of exam labs is temporary while we evaluate the exam labs and make improvements to provide an optimal candidate experience. With this change, the exam will consist of 65 multiple-choice questions and multiple-response questions, with an exam time of 130 minutes. All exam prep resources that are available on this exam page remain valid for this changed exam format.
Who should take this exam?
AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate is a great starting point on the AWS Certification path for individuals who may have any of the following:
- Experience working in a systems administrator role
- Experience in AWS technology
- Strong on-premises IT experience and understanding of mapping on-premises to cloud
- Experience working in other cloud services

- Your hands-on experience deploying, managing, and operating workloads on AWS as well as implementing security controls and compliance requirements
- Familiarity with using both the AWS Management Console and the AWS Command Line Interface (CLI)
- Understanding of the AWS Well-Architected Framework as well as AWS networking and security services
What does it take to earn this certification?
To earn this certification, you’ll need to take and pass the AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate exam. The exam features a combination of three possible question formats, including multiple choice, multiple response, and exam labs. Exam labs allow you to showcase your skills by building solutions using the AWS Management Console and AWS Command Line Interface (CLI). The AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate exam validates that a candidate has the experience and skills to contribute and ‘hit the ground running’ within a team supporting an AWS Cloud environment. Candidates who successfully achieve the credential should be able to quickly participate within an organization with an AWS footprint and perform job tasks expected of someone with one-to-two years of experience supporting a variety of computing workloads.”
