Product Overview

This image is retired. For latest minimal CentOS 7 image with LVM please use https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/pp/B083WH1894, and for latest minimal CentOS 8.1 image with LVM please use https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/pp/B083LNQHV1.
This is a minimal CentOS 7 (x86_64) image having the 8Gb instance volume managed with LVM (Logical Volume Manager) and split like this: / (root) 1024 MiB, /boot 256 MiB, /tmp 1024 MiB, /usr 2048 MiB, /var 2048 MiB, /home rest of the free space. It is mainly used as a common base system on top of which other appliances could be built. It contains just enough packages to run within AWS, bring up a SSH Server and allow users to login. Cloud-init, the defacto multi-distribution package that handles early initialization of a cloud instance, as well as the CentOS security updates available at the release date (2020-01-02) are included. Root login is disabled and only the 'centos' user is allowed to connect using ssh public key authentication.
