The Cloud Ops Group (COG) version of InfluxDB® is a pre-configured time series database AMI built for AWS. It enables DevOps teams, IoT platform engineers, and SRE groups to ingest, store, and query large volumes of timestamped data with high throughput and low latency. Deploy directly from AWS Marketplace and begin accepting writes within minutes.
Key Features
High-Performance Ingestion - Optimized for rapid ingestion of time series data, supporting high write loads from thousands of concurrent sources such as application metrics collectors, IoT sensors, and infrastructure agents.
Flexible Query Support - Query your data using InfluxQL for familiar SQL-like syntax. Retrieve, aggregate, and downsample time series data to power dashboards and alerting workflows.
TICK Stack Integration - Ships as a core component of the TICK stack (Telegraf, InfluxDB, Chronograf, Kapacitor), providing a complete pipeline from data collection through visualization and alerting.
Horizontal Scalability - Scale to accommodate growing data volumes without compromising query performance, making it suitable for environments ranging from small development clusters to large production deployments.
Integrations
The COG InfluxDB® AMI integrates with popular tools and AWS services:
Telegraf - Collect metrics from over 200 input plugins including system stats, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud services.
Grafana - Connect InfluxDB® as a native data source for rich time series dashboards and alerting.
AWS CloudWatch - Ingest CloudWatch metrics via Telegraf for centralized monitoring alongside application-level data.
Prometheus - Accept Prometheus remote write data for teams migrating or running hybrid monitoring stacks.
Use Cases
DevOps Monitoring - Collect infrastructure and application metrics from EC2 instances, containers, and serverless functions. Aggregate data from hundreds of hosts and visualize system health through Grafana dashboards with sub-second refresh intervals.
IoT Sensor Data - Ingest high-frequency sensor readings from manufacturing floors, smart buildings, or connected vehicles. Store millions of data points and apply downsampling policies to manage long-term retention efficiently.
Real-Time Analytics - Power live dashboards for business operations, tracking metrics such as transaction volumes, user activity, or network throughput with minimal query latency.
Security
The AMI includes built-in authentication and authorization controls. Data in transit can be secured via TLS encryption. For data at rest, leverage AWS EBS encryption to protect stored time series data. Access is controlled through InfluxDB's® user and role management system.
Deployment Guidance
This AMI is designed for deployment on EC2 instances. For optimal performance, consider instances with sufficient memory and fast storage (EBS gp3 or io2 volumes). After launch, access the InfluxDB® HTTP API on port 8086 to begin configuration and data ingestion.

AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
If you are an AWS Free Tier customer with a free plan, you are eligible to subscribe to this offer. You can use free credits to cover the cost of eligible AWS infrastructure. See AWS Free Tier for more details. If you created an AWS account before July 15th, 2025, and qualify for the Legacy AWS Free Tier, Amazon EC2 charges for Micro instances are free for up to 750 hours per month. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour for the EC2 instance size you run this software on. Pricing scales with the compute family and size you pick, not with data volume or user count. Options span compute-optimized (C-family), general-purpose (M and T families), memory-optimized (R and X families), storage-dense (D, H, and I families), and accelerated GPU or FPGA families (G, P, F, DL). Larger sizes within a family cost more per hour, matching added CPU, memory, or storage. Metal and flex variants are also available. You choose the instance that fits your workload, and billing runs while the instance runs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I get for the hourly charge, and does data volume affect the price?
You get the InfluxDB software running on one EC2 instance. The hourly rate covers the software license for the instance size you launch. It does not change with how much time series data you write or store. Only the instance family and size you pick drive the software charge.
Am I charged the software fee while my instance is stopped?
The hourly software charge applies while the instance runs. A stopped instance does not accrue software charges. Note that stopped instances may still incur separate AWS storage fees for attached EBS volumes. The software license meters running time only.
How does the cost change if I move to a larger instance as data grows?
You pay the hourly rate tied to whichever instance you run. Moving to a larger size within a family raises the rate to match added CPU, memory, or storage. You are billed only for the instance running at any given time, so cost shifts when you switch sizes.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

What do you like best about the product?
The accurate data and it's very insightful. The most valuable features are aggregating the data and integration with Graphana for monitoring.
What do you dislike about the product?
InfluxDB can improve by including new metrics on other technologies. They had some changes recently to pool data from endpoints but the functionality is not good enough in the industry
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This has led me down the path of looking at how to down sample data and after running into some problems, looking at the open issues. There’s a shocking trail of broken behaviour that has me questioning about whether my choice to use influxdb was sound
