This is a repackaged open-source software product wherein additional charges apply for support and for providing it in a simple consumable AMI. Apache Kafka is a publish-subscribe-based fault-tolerant messaging system. In comparison to other messaging systems, Kafka has better throughput, built-in partitioning, replication, and inherent fault tolerance, which makes it a good fit for large-scale message processing applications. We have packaged and hardened the Kafka service offering so our customers can seamlessly subscribe to this offering with no setup work from their end. All that you have to do is subscribe to this offering from the marketplace, create topics, publish messages from the producers, and start consuming with the consumers.
AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.

Kafka on Windows Server 2019 by GlobalSolutions with 24/7 Support
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
You pay by the hour for this Kafka software running on Windows Server 2019. Pricing is set per EC2 instance type, so your hourly rate depends on the machine size you launch. The 18 options span several families: burstable t2 and t3 types, general-purpose m3 and m4 types, compute-focused c4 types, and memory-focused r3 types. Within each family, sizes range from small to 4xlarge. As you move to instances with more CPU and memory, the hourly rate rises. You run the software as long as you need and stop billing by stopping the instance.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What resources do I get for each hourly instance type I choose?
Each option maps to a single AWS EC2 instance running Kafka on Windows Server 2019. Your instance type sets the CPU and memory. Burstable t2 and t3 types share CPU credits; m3 and m4 balance CPU and memory; c4 types favor CPU; r3 types favor memory. You launch one instance per subscription.
Am I charged the hourly software rate when I stop the instance?
The hourly software rate meters running time only. When you stop the instance, software charges stop. You are billed again once you start it. Stopped instances may still incur underlying AWS storage fees for the attached volume, but those are separate from the Kafka software charge.
Is any setup or configuration work needed, or is it billed ready to run?
No setup work is needed from you. Kafka comes installed under C:\kafka and runs as a Windows service in a started state. A sample topic plus producer and consumer scripts are pre-created. You connect via RDP and begin publishing messages. Your hourly charge covers this packaged, running instance.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
