Overview
Go 1.25 on Amazon Linux 2023 provides a fully configured, production-ready development environment for building and running Go applications on AWS.
This AMI is built on a minimal installation of Amazon Linux 2023, updated to the latest security patches, and includes Go 1.25 with essential development tools pre-installed and configured. Go is a statically typed, compiled programming language designed at Google, known for its simplicity, concurrency support, and fast compilation. Version 1.25 is the latest stable release with enhanced generics, improved performance, and toolchain refinements.
Key components included:
- Go 1.25 compiler and standard library
- gopls (Go language server for IDE support)
- Delve debugger for Go applications
- golint code linter
- Git version control
- Essential build tools
Key capabilities:
- Full cross-compilation support (Linux, macOS, Windows, ARM, AMD64)
- Built-in testing framework with coverage analysis
- Module-based dependency management
- Race condition detector
- Remote development ready (VS Code Remote-SSH compatible)
The system is security hardened following best practices. SSH access uses key pair authentication only. Unnecessary services and packages have been removed to reduce the attack surface. Automatic security updates are enabled by default.
This AMI is suitable for microservices development, API backends, CLI tool development, cloud-native applications, DevOps tooling, distributed systems, and any workload requiring high-performance compiled applications with built-in concurrency.
