Overview
A component of the Multiplatform Data Acquisition, Collection, and Analytics (MDACA) suite of applications, the Synthetic Data Engine (SDE) creates structurally and statistically similar synthetic data from sensitive, real datasets. MDACA SDE is designed to provide strong privacy guarantees while minimizing the complexities associated with understanding the processes for generating synthetic data in support of software development and testing, Machine Learning (ML) algorithms and modeling, and other initiatives while safeguarding corresponding real data. The MDACA Synthetic Data Engine supports software development to accelerate product release and time to market, utilizes a cost-effective storage approach, and bolsters modeling for machine learning while preserving confidentiality of the corresponding real data. The MDACA SDE was designed to seamlessly access and create meaningful, intelligent synthetic data without compromising the corresponding sensitive, real data. The MDACA Synthetic Data Engine protects PII and PHI data and provides meaningful data in support of AI/ML model development and application testing, minimizing data duplication and meeting business needs.
Highlights
- Fast and Easy to Use: Create smart, safe and statistically accurate synthetic data
- Configurable Data privacy: Balance data privacy and data utility with SDE's ML parameter tuning and Diffrential Privacy
- Scalable: Generate synthetic data from high-dimensional datasets

64-bit (x86) Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

Usage instructions
Once the instance is running, Visit http://{host-ip}:8000 in your browser (Chrome preferred for best experience) to access MDACA Synthetic Data Engine (SDE) console. SDE is ready to use via browser.
Consult the SDE User Guide and the walk-through video links for step-by-step guidance on generating synthetic data using SDE.
For log and file management, or other administrative tasks on the instance, SSH into it using the username 'ec2-user' and provide your Amazon private key. All SDE logs are located under /var/log/mdaca-sde directory. All generated synthetic artifacts are located under the media directory
Note: To enable HTTPS, provision an Application Load Balancer (ALB) that fronts the SDE server and handles the encryption/decryption of traffic.
