AWS Well-Architected Review

The AWS Well-Architected framework is a set of AWS best practices divided into six pillars for the design and operation of applications in the AWS cloud:

• Operational Excellence
• Security
• Reliability
• Performance Efficiency
• Cost Optimization
• Sustainability

For each pillar, the Well-Architected Framework describes the specific best practices developed by AWS. In order to see how one of your workloads measures up to these AWS best practices, AWS has developed the Well-Architected Review Partner Program. Through this program, Necko Technologies is one of a small number of qualified AWS partners who are authorized to guide AWS customers through the architecture assessment process using the AWS Well-Architected tool.

How does it work?

The Necko Technologies Architecture Review is a high-level verification of an application against current best practices and reference cases. It is performed by Necko Technologies Cloud Architects who will ask a series of questions to establish alignment with AWS recommended best practices:

Preparation

Prior to the WAR meeting, we conduct a 30-minute introductory call to confirm the scope of the application and discuss prerequisites. For the meeting itself, we will ask you to prepare or bring the following:

1. Any existing documentation on the design of this application, including architecture diagrams,
2. Read-only access to the AWS account(s) in which the application resides,
3. The goals sought by this WAR.

Well-Architected Review meeting

The meeting is a 2 to 4 hour meeting that can take place via video conference, on site at the customer's location or at Necko's offices. During this meeting, the Cloud Solution Architects use the Well-Architect Tool and a discussion with the client's stakeholders will follow.

WAR Report

After the meeting, you will receive a PDF report on the results of the meeting. It consists of the responses from the stakeholders during the meeting and a high and medium risk analysis that was identified during the meeting. Necko Technologies will also provide the client with a list of priority items to be resolved, taking into account the most critical items.

As a WAR partner, Necko Technologies can work with you to implement solutions to remediate the risks identified during the WAR.
