Insight Veeam Backup to AWS Kickstart

The Insight Veeam Backup to AWS Kickstart is a Packaged Service offering that is a combination of remote training, design, and configuration. The service enables Client environments with offsite copy/move of data from Veeam Backup and Replication to AWS S3, ensuring compliance with the 3-2-1 backup rule. Clients with Veeam Backup and Replication currently installed are candidates for this service. By the end of the services engagement, Veeam Backup and Replication will be configured to send copies of backup data to the cloud.

Overview

Scope of Services

Plan - Insight Architect will provide a 2-hour engagement to identify the following:

Current backup/replication and restore practices
Perform a quick assessment of current Veeam infrastructure to understand configuration, version, and logical characteristics
Backup data footprint
Job change requirements
1. GFS enablement
2. Repository repointing (isolate required jobs on S3-backed repos)
Repository modification options
1. Per-VM backup
2. ReFS (Client responsibility to execute)
Available upload bandwidth (from on-premises to AWS)
Inter-site bandwidth (if seeding to Snowball Edge)
Validate on-premises compatibility (if upgrading Veeam)
1. Other Veeam components
2. Hypervisor
3. Veeam Backup and Replication server OS

Build - Remotely, the Insight Deployment Team and Insight Architect will:

Configure S3 buckets in AWS
Configure Veeam Backup and Replication to consume S3 buckets
Perform knowledge transfer
Optional/additional items
1. Upgrade Veeam Backup and Replication
2. Leverage Snowball Edge

Manage - Remotely, the Insight Architect and Delivery Team will:

Demonstrate ability of Veeam to seamlessly transport backup data to AWS S3
