    Overview

    Veritas NetBackup makes data protection and long-term data retention seamless across your environments, whether physical, virtual or in AWS’s Amazon Simple Storage Solutions (S3) or Amazon S3 Glacier tiers. Ensure resiliency with orchestrated workload migration to and between clouds for AWS.

    The NetBackup Assessment Toolkit (NBAT) generates comprehensive configuration and environmental information collected from NetBackup Master Servers, Media Servers and Veritas Appliances for deep analysis.

    Examples of the types of information NBAT generates are as follows:

    • De-duplication rates
    • Master server configuration
    • Job performance and size information
    • Appliance configuration
    • Storage Lifecycle Policy (SLP) details
    • Tape media / robot information
    • Data distribution
    • Catalog review

    NBAT provides information on the relative health of the NetBackup components in the target environment in R/G/Y-formatted, pie-chart scorecards. NBAT supports NetBackup Version 7.0 through the most current version and fully supports NetBackup Appliances and all Master Server and Media Server operating systems.

    NBAT Assessment - How it Works

    • Obtain NBAT license
    • Obtain most updated version of NBAT
    • Provide Data Gather (DG) to customer
    • Customer to run DG on their servers
      • VAST to assist if customer wants VAST to run data gathers (Additional hours - not inclusive to main pricing)
    • VAST to assist customer if troubleshooting is required when running data gathers (Additional hours - not inclusive to main pricing)
    • Customer to send output to VAST
    • VAST to place DG output on VM to run analyzer
      • Take Analyzer output to create report in Report Generator
    • VAST review documents/powerpoints/visio from report generator
    • VAST to finalize NBAT report on VAST PowerPoint
    • VAST to present findings

    Report Levels

    • Level 1 - Basic environment overview consisting of general performance metrics
    • Level 3 - Detailed environment overview consisting of areas for improvements
      • PS would be engaged for fixing the issues on a separate engagement
