Barracuda CloudGen Access provides remote conditional and contextual access to resources and reduces overprivileged access and associated third-party risks. With CloudGen Access employees and partners can access corporate apps and cloud workloads without creating additional attack surfaces. Our Zero Trust model is based on rules and conditions that essentially require the accessing entity to prove that they are allowed i.e. trusted to access that particular workload. While most zero trust models seem complicated ours provides instant provisioning and seamless access so your remote workers are not aware that zero trust is being applied. We also provide zero trust across all AWS workloads as well as on-premises and even other clouds. Our free 30-day trial allows you to experience Barracuda CloudGen Access securing remote access in real-time before purchasing.

AWS customers, or even organizations who are considering AWS, can take advantage of AWS Private Offers https://www.barracuda.com/solutions/aws/private-offer  to receive a specialized price quotation from Barracuda, allowing you to negotiate terms, conditions, even discounts, either directly or through your trusted partner.

Centralized security management has simplified remote access and improved network visibility

    Reviewed on Jun 03, 2026
    Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

Barracuda SecureEdge  serves as our primary solution for providing secure connectivity and centralized network security for remote users, branch offices, and cloud applications.

On a day-to-day basis, we rely on it for secure remote access, web filtering, policy enforcement, and monitoring network traffic.

The centralized cloud management portal makes it easy to manage security policies, monitor user activity, and troubleshoot connectivity issues.

It has helped us improve security, simplify network management, and provide reliable access to business applications for our users, regardless of their location.

One practical example of how we use Barracuda SecureEdge  for secure connectivity and policy enforcement in our organization is securing remote access for employees working from home or traveling.

We use Barracuda SecureEdge to ensure that users can securely connect to internet applications and cloud resources through encrypted connections.

Only authorized users are allowed to access sensitive business applications, while access to risky or non-business websites is blocked through web filter policy.

The centralized management portal allows us to monitor traffic and apply security policy consistently across all locations, which has helped improve both security and operational efficiency across our organization.

Another important aspect of our main use case for Barracuda SecureEdge is the simplicity of managing security and connectivity from a single cloud platform.

    What is most valuable?

The best features Barracuda SecureEdge offers are its centralized cloud-based management, secure remote access capabilities, and ease of deployment.

I particularly appreciate how it allows administrators to manage security policy, users, and branch locations from a single dashboard.

Another strong feature is its web filtering and policy enforcement capabilities, which help protect users from malicious websites and maintain compliance with company security standards.

The visibility and reporting tools are also very helpful because they provide clear insight into network activity and potential security issues.

Overall, the combination of security simplicity and centralized management makes Barracuda SecureEdge a very effective solution.

One feature that really stands out to our team is the combination of simplicity and visibility.

Many security solutions can be complex to manage, but Barracuda SecureEdge provides a very intuitive interface while still offering strong security controls.

We especially value the centralized monitoring and reporting capabilities because they give us quick insights into user activity, network performance, and potential security threats.

The platform strikes a good balance between ease of security and scalability, which has made it a valuable solution for our team.

Barracuda SecureEdge has positively impacted our organization by simplifying the way we manage secure connectivity for remote users, branch offices, and cloud applications by providing a centralized platform for monitoring and policy management.

We have also seen improvement in visibility across the network, faster issue resolution, and more consistent policy enforcement from a security perspective.

It has helped reduce risk by ensuring users access resources through secure, controlled connections.

Overall, it has improved productivity for both our IT team and end-users while strengthening our organization's security and network management capabilities.

    What needs improvement?

Overall, my experience with Barracuda SecureEdge has been positive, but there are always areas for improvement.

One area where I believe the product could be enhanced is in reporting and analytics, with more customizable dashboards and deeper insight for security and performance monitoring.

Additionally, having more advanced troubleshooting tools and diagnostic information directly within the platform would help administrators resolve issues even faster.

While the interface is generally easy to use, some advanced configurations could be simplified further to reduce the learning curve for new administrators.

The platform already provides strong security, centralized management, and reliable connection for our organization.

One enhancement our team would appreciate regarding Barracuda SecureEdge is more advanced customization options for reporting and dashboards, allowing us to create role-specific views and more detailed analytics.

We would also appreciate additional automation capability for routing administrative tasks and policy management, which could further reduce operational effort and streamline security operations.

While the platform already provides strong visibility and management capability, having more built-in troubleshooting and diagnostic tools would help analyze issues when they occur.

Nothing major comes to mind about improving Barracuda SecureEdge. If I had to suggest something, I would like to see more customizable reporting and a few additional troubleshooting tools. Overall, the platform meets our requirements well and has been easy to manage.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Barracuda SecureEdge for approximately six months, and during this time, I have used it for secure remote access and network security management across multiple locations.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Barracuda SecureEdge has been stable in our experience. We have not encountered any major reliability issues. The platform has provided consistent performance for both security management and remote connectivity.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

In our experience, Barracuda SecureEdge scales well. Adding new users or additional locations is straightforward, and the centralized management platform makes it easy to manage growth without significantly increasing administrative effort.

How are customer service and support?

The support team for Barracuda SecureEdge is responsive, knowledgeable, and helpful when troubleshooting issues. Most of our queries have been resolved in a reasonable time frame.

    How was the initial setup?

Our experience with the pricing and licensing has been positive overall. The licensing model is straightforward and easy to understand, and the setup process did not require significant additional cost or complexity. Considering the security features and centralized management capability it provides, we feel it offers good value for the investment.

    What about the implementation team?

We have seen a positive return on investment with Barracuda SecureEdge, mainly through time-saving and simplified management. The centralized dashboard has reduced the effort required for policy management, troubleshooting, and user administration. While we have not reduced headcount, our teams spend less time on routine tasks and can focus on more strategic work. Overall, we have seen improved efficiency and faster issue resolution.

    What was our ROI?

Our experience with the pricing and licensing has been positive overall. The licensing model is straightforward and easy to understand, and the setup process did not require significant additional cost or complexity. Considering the security features and centralized management capability it provides, we feel it offers good value for the investment.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Our team did not evaluate other options before choosing Barracuda SecureEdge.

What other advice do I have?

My advice to others looking into using Barracuda SecureEdge would be to evaluate it against your business requirements and run a proof of concept. In our experience, it is easy to manage, scalable, and provides strong security and visibility. I would rate this product an 8 out of 10.

Unified cloud security has consolidated branch access and has improved remote user protection

    Reviewed on May 30, 2026
Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Barracuda SecureEdge  is a particular consolidation approach where different branch locations have unique entry and exit points, ensuring traffic comes to a particular cloud for exit, which enhances the security footprint of the organization.

    What is most valuable?

The best features that Barracuda SecureEdge  offers, in my experience, start with a Secure Web Gateway for internet traffic protection, Zero Trust Network Access , SD-WAN integration, Firewall as a Service, centralized policy and management, remote user security, work-from-home capabilities, branch connectivities plus cloud security, and application-level access control.

Barracuda SecureEdge has positively impacted my organization as it is a cloud-native SASE  platform that securely connects users and branches to applications with built-in SD-WAN, combining network and security into a single cloud platform for modern distributed environments.

    What needs improvement?

Compared to leading SASE  vendors, Barracuda SecureEdge is still evolving and lacks some advanced features and integration depth that may require evaluating for large and global enterprises.

Limited advanced threat intelligence is another area, as core protection is strong, but analytics could improve. The UI and reporting are functional but could be more intuitive and business-friendly.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Barracuda SecureEdge for the last four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

In my experience, Barracuda SecureEdge is secure and stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Barracuda SecureEdge has good scalability because it is a cloud-based solution, so there are no worries about the scalability aspect. They will take care of it.

How are customer service and support?

The customer support I receive is good.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have previously used different solutions such as Zscaler, Netskope , and Prisma before using Barracuda SecureEdge.

    What was our ROI?

I have seen a return on investment. Tool consolidation provides an immediate return on investment from a tool perspective, and with reduced administrative overhead, less human resources are needed for management.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing is acceptable. I do not see any complications compared to other solutions, and it seems suitable mainly for mid-level organizations, as small organizations may not have much of a branch footprint.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Before choosing Barracuda SecureEdge, I evaluated options including Zscaler and Netskope .

What other advice do I have?

Every feature I have mentioned is critical, so if you need to secure your organization, you cannot bypass one after another.

I have seen specific outcomes since using Barracuda SecureEdge, such as tool consolidation that combines multiple tools like VPN, firewall, secure web gateway, and SD-WAN into one solution, resulting in around a twenty to thirty percent reduction in security tool costs, improved operational efficiency, and increased efficiency around twenty-five to forty percent. Additionally, it has bettered the security posture by reducing the attack surface and lateral movement, which has impacted access-related risks by thirty to fifty percent.

My advice for others looking into using Barracuda SecureEdge is to consider your organization footprint. If it is a mid-size organization, proceed with using Barracuda SecureEdge. However, if you have a large enterprise, you need to evaluate the solution carefully to understand the best fit for your needs.

I have given this review a rating of eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Cloudgen, ideal for your remote workforce

What do you like best about the product?
As an administrator it is quite easy to start with the product. For the endusers, the hassle of connecting to a VPN to perform certain task etc. is gone. They work the same way at the office as at home.
What do you dislike about the product?
If you have a lot of users, speed of the proxy can be a thing. There are solutions, but you need to think about the best implementation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our remote workforce is growing and setting up a vpn and supporting those vpn's was becoming a pain... Cloudgen access solves this perfectly.
An added feature is the security it implies on the environment. Users can only access those applications and only those ports that we define.
