SAP Monitoring Solution When it comes to data analytics, SAP data is often ignored: it is too difficult to access and almost impossible to correlate. Monitoring with SAP Solution Manager does give a good insight, however certain domains or information flows still remain invisible: the 'black box' as it were. So there is a need for real-time insight to be able to immediately prioritise relevant information. There is now SAP Monitoring Solution that can meet the demand to obtain, centralise and combine data from various sources. To undestand the solution, we have split it into two parts: 1) Splunk and 2) the certified SAP solution know as SAP PowerConnect. The former takes care of the dashboarding, alerting, and reporting functionalities; where the latter extracts near real-time information from the SAP environment.

Splunk Splunk is the world’s first and leading Data-to-Everything platform. It is a data-agnostic solution that allows organisations to centrally access data without having to worry about where this data comes from. It is therefore only necessary to concentrate on what this data can mean for the business operations, and how it can help all layers of the organization. Splunk allows the use of artificial intelligence for operation (AIOps) and machine learning on all available data, e.g. on SAP data. However, the question remains as to how the data can be accessed from SAP in Splunk.

Certified SAP add-on SAP PowerConnect is the certified solution fro SAP that provides real-time data extraction from SAP, enabling all types of SAP data to be sent to the Splunk cluster. SAP PowerConnect is an SAP-certified solution for all the current offerings: SAP NetWeaver, S/4HANA, Dual-stack/Java, SAP Cloud. It is implemented via out-of-the-box and standardized transactions. For example by the SAINT-transaction. Installation and configuration takes a few hours, with out-of-the-box configurations all the need (or only the relevant) data is sent (pushed) from SAP to Splunk. An add-on is also installed on the Splunk side using Splunkbase, which takes care of all the visualization, correlation, alerting based on the data. As soon as SAP data is sent via PowerConnect, it is immediately ready for use to increase your control on the SAP landscape: dashboarding, machine-learning, alerting, SIEM integrations are all part of the possibilities.

The combination of SAP PowerConnect and Splunk means that the previously described challenges can become accelerating factors for your IT operations.
