Many data solutions start out as proofs-of-concept, often created in isolation focusing on a single use-case. When these solutions are put into production, the key considerations of security, governance and quality can be neglected. Often decisions are made with trade-offs that may not take into account the all the consequences in a production environment. The TechConnect Data and Analytics Specialised Well-Architected Review provides a validation of these considerations and decisions, uncovering opportunities to identify and mitigate this latent risk, and increase the business value of data.

While TechConnect can make improvements to existing data and analytics pipelines, we can also help business stakeholders with little or no access to enterprise data, who today have to maintain their own data silos to operate their business and perform reporting. These isolated silos often have limited governance, compliance oversight, standardisation, or automation. We can help uncover opportunities to share data sources securely across the enterprise, allowing customers to correlate data across the business at the operational level, reducing delays and lengthy decision-making due to manual processes and incomplete data, and save money by avoiding duplication of effort.

Process

• The TechConnect team will schedule a 5-hour workshop, generally split over two or more sessions as required, to conduct a deep dive review of the customer’s existing data infrastructure or data sources.
• Customer stakeholders responsible for the specific line of business, data engineering and reporting, as well as the CIO will be involved (TechConnect will work with the customer ahead of time to identify who should attend the workshop, as not all attendees will be required for the entire session).
• TechConnect will present the recommendations report for discussion with the customer to complete the scope of improvements and statement of work before commencing remediation.
• The customer’s specific business needs and priorities wil linform the process at every step to ensure that the list of recommended improvements aligns with the customer’s objectives.
• Following on from the initial engagement and SoW, TechConnect can work with the customer to build out a long-term strategy and roadmap to guide customers on their data journey with AWS.
• For customers without the ability or desire to operate data and analytics infrastructure, TechConnect can offer a follow-on Managed Services solution to take care of the heavy lifting involved in running data pipelines. This allows customers to focus on their business differentiators without having to manage security, compliance, operational overheads of ETL jobs, reporting, dashboards, etc.
