The original messages are expressed with National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) standard interfaces and AIVDM/AIVDO protocol encodings. The data has been transformed to Resource Description Framework (RDF) and aligned to ontologies in Web Ontology Language (OWL). This transformation allows for easier integration with other data sources.
