What counts as a token for input and response billing?
A token is a small chunk of text the model reads or writes, roughly a few characters or part of a word. Input tokens cover the text you send. Response tokens cover the text the model returns. You are billed per million of each, counted separately.
How does batch token pricing differ from on-demand token pricing?
On-demand input and response tokens bill for real-time requests as they run. Batch input and output tokens bill for grouped, non-urgent jobs processed together. Batch suits work that does not need immediate replies. Both meter per million tokens, but you choose the mode that fits the workload.
Am I charged when the model sits idle under Provisioned Throughput?
Provisioned Throughput bills a flat hourly rate for reserved capacity, so charges accrue for each hour the capacity is active whether or not you send requests. No Commit lets you release capacity without a term. The 1-month and 6-month options hold that hourly rate across the committed period.
