Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for the EC2 instance size you run. Each dimension maps to a specific instance type, so your cost scales with the compute power you pick. The t2, t3, and t3a families cover smaller general-purpose needs, from nano and micro up through 2xlarge. The m6a and m7a families cover larger general-purpose workloads, scaling from large up to 48xlarge. Larger instances bill at higher hourly rates. Pricing is usage-based, so you are charged only for the hours each instance runs. Software and Windows Server run on top of the instance you choose.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each dimension runs the WordPress software on Windows Server, pre-packaged with its dependent components including a database, web server, and PHP. The instance type you pick sets the compute and memory. You connect over RDP as Administrator and build your site right away.
The hourly software charge meters running time only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue software charges. You may still pay underlying AWS storage fees while the instance is stopped. Charges resume when you start the instance again.
You pay for each hour an instance runs, with no upfront commitment. Charges stop when you stop the instance. The rate depends on the instance type you launch. This model suits variable workloads where you scale instances up or down as traffic changes.
