Overview
The Leostream Gateway is a key component of the Leostream platform - consisting of the Leostream Connection Broker, Leostream Gateway, Leostream Agent, and Leostream Connect. Using Leostream, organizations and service providers can build a hosted desktop or application environment (VDI or DaaS) in AWS, and easily extend that environment to manage remote access to a hybrid cloud.
Leostream pools automatically launch and terminate EC2 instances based on user demand or based on an administrator-defined schedule, for built-in management of AWS compute costs.. The Leostream Agent monitors the user's remote session, allowing administrators to shutdown or terminate EC2 instances automatically when users disconnect, log out, or are idle.
When connecting with the Leostream Gateway, users can launch in-browser connections to their private workspaces hosted in AWS EC2 using NICE DCV, RDP, VNC, or SSH, and can launch client-based connections using NICE DCV, RDP, HP Remote Boost, NoMachine, and Mechdyne TGX.
Both the Leostream Gateway and the Leostream Connection Broker easily scale to manage large environments across multiple networks.
Highlights
- Securely connects users to EC2 instances hosted in a private network, based on Leostream policies.
- Includes a built-in HTML5 client for in-browser access to Windows, Linux, and macOS instances.

Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

Usage instructions
The Leostream Gateway must be used in conjunction with the Leostream Connection Broker, also available on the AWS Marketplace. After launching instances for both applications, please contact sales@leostream.com to obtain your Leostream serial number, which you can use to run a free trial of the Leostream Connection Broker.
Note that deployments using the Leostream Gateway HTML5 client require more RAM than those using client-based display protocols. Consider launching the application on a larger instance when using the HTML5 client.
The default security group supports the HTML5 client and client-based connections along random ports. Depending on how the Leostream Gateway is configured, additional ports may be required. See the Leostream Gateway Guide linked in the Additional Resources for more information.
The account "leostream" has been preconfigured and made available with sudo permissions. For SSH access to the underlying Leostream Gateway operating system, please authenticate with the key you provided when launching the instance and the username "leostream".
If, at any time, you need to check the status of your Leostream Gateway, point a Web browser at the following URL.
