Overview

The Cloud Readiness Assessment Service assists clients at the start of their cloud adoption journey to assess their organization’s current readiness for operating in the cloud. This Service assists clients to identify the desired business outcomes and develop the business case for migration. AHEAD will assess your existing resources and build a right-sized and optimized cost projection for running applications in AWS.

Scope: During this Service, AHEAD will perform the following tasks in a phased approach:

Data Collection:

  • Perform data collection on physical host inventory and the virtual instances.
  • Perform data collection on storage capacity requirements.
  • Perform data collection for on-premise hardware refresh cycle and storage backup requirements. Right Sizing Analysis:
  • Recommend the cost optimized instance for the given performance and licensing requirements.
  • Review CPU, RAM, Storage and Network utilization to identify potential instances that can be downsized.
  • Recommend right sizing for attached and detached storage. Right Pricing Analysis:
  • Recommend the appropriate pricing model (Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, On-Demand, or Spot Instances.

Deliverables: The following deliverables are provided in connection with this Service:

  • Summary Analysis for all Applications and In-Scope Servers (Microsoft PowerPoint), including:
    • Asset Inventory
    • Capacity
    • Performance
    • Opportunities for Optimizing Over-Provisioned Workloads
  • Analysis Workbook (Microsoft Excel) including:
    • Workload Optimization Report (Opportunities for Rightsizing Over -Provisioned Servers)
    • Asset Inventory Report (Provisioned CPU, Memory, and Disk)
    • Server Performance Report (Average, 95th Percentile, and Max CPU, Memory, Disk, and Network Utilization
  • Financial Analysis including:
    • 5-year cash flow model including one (1) hardware refresh cycle
    • Software licensing and support costs for operating system, hypervisor, and storage
    • Ramp down of environment during migration project duration
    • Impact of pending hardware refresh on Client scenario
    • Industry averages for power, cooling, physical security, lease per square feet and other facility related costs
  • Multi-Year TCO and ROI Analysis (Migrating to AWS) including:
    • Provide 3-year minimum (preferably 5 year) cash flow mode
    • Optimized Storage Tier selection, including rightsizing, performance (IOPS, Throughput) and media (SSD/HDD)
    • Include ramp up of environment during migration project duration
    • 3-year cost summary for AWS Services, including Compute (AWS-native and/or VMC), Storage, Network, IT Labor and Support
  • Migration Planning and Cost Analysis including:
    • Macro-Level migration plan with major milestones and estimated durations
    • Budgetary estimates for on-premises and AWS parallel run cost
    • High-Level cost for migration initiative
  • Business Case Presentation, including:
    • Current estate and proposed future estate (servers, storage, DC footprint, etc.)
    • Average "steady-state" costs identified - Staying in current setup scenario
    • Average "steady-state" costs identified - Migrating to AWS Scenario
    • "Steady-State" cost comparison - Staying in current setup vs. Migrating to AWS
    • Migration Cash-flow Comparison - Staying in current setup vs. Migrating to AWS
    • Detailed Financial Summary Table with clear comparison of Staying in current setup vs. Migrating to AWS
    • Assumptions Table - Staying in current setup scenario
    • Assumptions Table - Migration Costs
    • Assumptions Table - Migrating to AWS Scenario
