Guided HR workflows have reduced errors and now simplify employee self-service tasks
What is our primary use case?
What is most valuable?
One of the best features of WalkMe is the Smart Walk-through, which guides employees to perform the activities they need to do. I can automate an entire workflow for requesting a benefit, creating a flow so that the employee only needs to click on the option to register a new dependent, and WalkMe then performs all the automation that the employee would do step by step. The Smart Walk-through is a great application for mitigating errors. However, for the Smart Walk-through to work correctly, it is also necessary to use other WalkMe applications in the flow, which makes it somewhat more complex when configuring a process in WalkMe. If it is well developed, it provides very good gains for the company and also for employees in general, since it reduces the errors that employees might make when they perform manual actions in Workday.
WalkMe had a positive impact in a previous organization where I worked, which is Santander, where we were able to map the reduction in errors and also used it as a way to publish announcements to employees and to block some fields in Workday. Because Workday is a global company, there were some fields where it was not possible to make changes due to global rules. With WalkMe, we were able to apply location-based rules so that some fields would be hidden. WalkMe drastically reduced manual errors, which impacted not only the good performance of the employee so they could do their tasks, but also employee satisfaction, since they did not need to perform multiple steps and would immediately know if there was any block rather than finding out in the future. The HR and technology teams also benefited, because as incorrect information was no longer arriving at the satellite systems, it drastically reduced these errors and we were able to work much better. WalkMe ended up impacting everyone involved.
What needs improvement?
WalkMe can be improved with more AI tools. Currently, I believe WalkMe may face a challenge in the future because of AI, as it will be much easier to carry out automations. WalkMe, even though it is low-code, requires that I direct everything for it. If there were tools with more AI capabilities for building new use cases with WalkMe, such as how to create a Smart Walk-through or a Launcher, I believe WalkMe would be far ahead. Thinking about the future, WalkMe will probably have significant competition with AI products or agents built within AI that also perform the same functions as WalkMe.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using WalkMe for three years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
There are no stability issues.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
There are no scalability issues.
How are customer service and support?
I receive support directly from WalkMe.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup was conducted.
What about the implementation team?
An implementation team was involved.
What other advice do I have?
I rate WalkMe an eight because it is very useful and has very good performance, but it requires that the person who will build these automations with WalkMe invest time in learning the tool. Since it is a low-code tool, it is intuitive, but at some points low-code alone is not enough and you need to input some code, such as JavaScript or HTML, so you need to have additional knowledge to carry out this type of activity. As I mentioned, I believe that WalkMe would be better if it had more AI tools integrated into it. If AI were implemented, perhaps this learning time for WalkMe would not be so necessary, and if there were, for example, an application that helps in this scenario in the future, I would give a higher rating.
One piece of advice I would give is to really explore WalkMe and check out the community to understand and see what the possibilities are. WalkMe is not just about a Smart Walk-through; it can be much more than that. You can create blocks, communications, and several other things with possibilities that can greatly help your company. Do not limit yourself only to the Smart Walk-through, which is WalkMe's flagship, but also look at all the possibilities that are available with WalkMe. My overall review rating for WalkMe is eight out of ten.
Guided user journeys have improved mock-ups and currently support data-driven behavior insights
What is our primary use case?
My main use case for WalkMe is primarily for mock-ups for new products.
A quick specific example of how I use WalkMe for mock-ups with new products is that sometimes users have to go through different platforms, meaning one platform and another one a partner's platform, so I ensure that customers are guided on which platform to go first and second, because eventually it becomes a kind of back-and-forth situation.
I would also add that another use case, though not really relevant, is the use of data and analytics to understand user behavior.
What is most valuable?
The best features WalkMe offers are Walk-throughs and Shoutouts.
Walk-throughs help me in guiding users on what they need to enter in specific fields, especially when some characters are not allowed or when a particular string format is expected, and Shoutouts provide them with further information.
WalkMe will definitely impact my organization positively, but it has not yet because we are prototyping and in beta phase, so we are aiming at having customers sign up for WalkMe contracts with specific products.
What needs improvement?
I appreciate WalkMe the way it is, and I do not have any suggestions for improvement at this time.
Thinking about needed improvements, perhaps tutorials or the WalkMe Challenge that is provided in WalkMe platform would show real value. When I took my course, it was a simulation of a service department in which I had to complete fields from a customer complaint into a form, and that took a considerable amount of time. With WalkMe, I could clearly see that we could do this faster, so I would encourage WalkMe to have simulations of this kind, but perhaps in a variety of contexts.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using WalkMe for about a year.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
WalkMe is fairly stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
WalkMe's scalability is high, and we can use it for a variety of products.
How are customer service and support?
WalkMe customer support is good, and we have direct contact with WalkMe, so it is fast, reliable, and trustworthy.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I previously used in-app help that is embedded as a solution, but we switched because my company believes that WalkMe provides better guidance with Walk-throughs, Shoutouts, and videos than the in-app help that is offered currently.
What was our ROI?
I do not have data regarding return on investment; as I mentioned, we are in a beta phase, so there is not a return on investment yet.
What other advice do I have?
My advice to others looking into using WalkMe is to give it a try and also try WalkMe Challenge provided in WalkMe platform. I would rate this review as a nine out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
Guided complex ERP users through cloud transformations and now requires simpler, cheaper customization
What is our primary use case?
My main use case for WalkMe is for businesses who are SAP Rise customers or those going through a transformation from ECC to S/4HANA, as well as certain greenfield implementations for ERP .
I have one end-to-end experience of a project transforming from ECC to S/4HANA, and once the transformation was completed, the entire business moved from on-premise to cloud. That is when the user had to be trained for certain new aspects, and I helped the clients understand and adopt WalkMe , showing them how it is useful.
WalkMe has positively impacted our organization, which is mostly an SAP partner organization that helps customers already using SAP software for their businesses. We have used WalkMe in that perspective, especially for SAP Rise and Grow customers when an implementation is done and the organization is ready to operate independently with the new software features. When employees need to be trained, that is when WalkMe has been used.
What is most valuable?
WalkMe offers excellent features as the best digital adoption platform because it provides excellent training for end users and also guidance through complex and multi-application software environments. It moves seamlessly between different functions or departments within the software, and the second point I would mention is the task automations that it can provide in terms of filling out certain forms and navigating between menus based on prior selections or actions.
As a Solutions Consultant, I have not worked too much on the technicalities of the features, but the functional aspects have been useful, especially for the guidance perspective. WalkMe is very good at recognizing elements within different web pages and switching between different portals. It provides resources at times, such as help and guidance for the next steps.
WalkMe's task automation feature has helped one of my customers by making it easier to fill out forms. The impact I have seen with WalkMe includes good user adoption because the guidance was excellent.
One drawback I would mention is the high cost overall because the software itself is expensive and not everyone can afford it. There are other available options in the market that are less expensive, quicker, and easier to deploy. WalkMe requires a WalkMe admin, builder, or consultant so that everything can be understood, gathered, and put into place for the first time. If there are any system changes, it needs to be taken care of every time, including version control, which can become a little manual and cumbersome to test everything before pulling the final version into the production environment.
Moreover, if an organization is small or mid-size and does not have a dedicated budget for using WalkMe, then this tool is not the best option for them as they cannot afford it, especially if they only have one simple tool or product instead of a complex IT environment.
What needs improvement?
I believe that at least some knowledge of HTML or CSS is required for WalkMe customizations. If that could be simplified using AI and people could just give instructions, I think that would be beneficial. I know WalkMe is already working on it, especially with all the AI advancements in SAP, and WalkMe has been acquired by SAP now.
I do not have any further suggestions for needed improvements to WalkMe at this point in time. Since I have worked with WalkMe for just one year now, I do not have much to say regarding other improvements needed. Whatever information or feedback I have provided is based on my hands-on experience with WalkMe as a solutions consultant.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have used WalkMe for about one year.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
WalkMe's accuracy and reliability are quite robust, with a lesser number of broken walkthroughs compared to other software. This is because it has deep UI element recognition and uses AI to identify the elements. Since I do not have personal experience working on those other aspects that leverage AI, I will refrain from commenting on that.
What other advice do I have?
The advice I would give to others looking into using WalkMe is a summary of what I have mentioned in some of the previous questions. If the organization is more ERP-centric, using complex software such as Salesforce , Workday , and others, and has different departments such as HR and finance with a dedicated budget for WalkMe, then they should definitely go for it. However, if they are a small or medium-sized organization without a dedicated budget and with limited financial resources, and if they are relying on their own products or SaaS, I would not suggest they use WalkMe. Instead, they can opt for other software that is easier to deploy and can be completely handled by non-technical product owners.
My additional thoughts about WalkMe center around concerns regarding its future, as many businesses frequently ask whether WalkMe will completely focus on advancements or innovations tied to SAP and its related products, potentially negatively affecting customers who are non-SAP application users. This question often arises, and it would be helpful for people to have more clarity on it. Secondly, regarding AI, people wonder if AI can guide users through different navigations, walkthroughs, workflows, and task automations, and what the need for a separate software such as WalkMe would be. I also think about how SAP might in the future integrate WalkMe with AI into all its software, influencing how WalkMe is used and what its actual purposes would be, especially regarding the price point. If WalkMe remains as standalone software, particularly for non-SAP users, it could be more simplified and cost-reduced.
I would rate this product a 7.5 out of 10.
Guided user onboarding has improved adoption but implementation still needs AI-driven simplification
What is our primary use case?
We are implementing WalkMe in a tool where newly onboarded users can become accustomed to the tool within our system. WalkMe serves this purpose for new users who would otherwise be lost when looking at our platform because it is very large and vast. We started by implementing Smart tips for the icons we had, then we implemented a Smart Walk-Thru and we also had banners inside the system.
What is most valuable?
The best features WalkMe offers, in my opinion, are the workflow, Smart Walk-Thru, small walk-through, and adding articles in the system, which has been very helpful.
Instead of having a separate article section on a different page, we started implementing WalkMe and added this information in the system, which has really helped us and the team in terms of productivity and having all the information in one place.
What needs improvement?
There are some technical terms that become involved when we try to implement WalkMe. For instance, if we have a dynamic page, we have to write some code in order to have a specific icon to pick the tooltip, which could be improved using AI.
WalkMe still has some features that can be enhanced, especially when it comes to AI. They could implement AI to make the end user work much easier.
It is not very efficient compared to what I have done in the organization, and there is still a lot of scope where WalkMe can improve AI capabilities.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using WalkMe for six months.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
WalkMe can still withstand many systems at a point, but it needs some segmentation and other factors are involved.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We previously used Whatfix .
How was the initial setup?
We are still in the process of implementing WalkMe, so I cannot provide further details on how the implementation went.
What other advice do I have?
I am not sure if we had used anything before WalkMe. I cannot give that information at this point as I am not involved in all of that. WalkMe has been pretty easy to use overall and is pretty much good. My review rating for WalkMe is six out of ten.
Guided walkthroughs have transformed onboarding and made complex processes faster to complete
What is our primary use case?
My main use case for WalkMe is helping people go through the software more easily, productively, and faster.
A specific example of how I use WalkMe is with SAP, where I create walkthroughs for new joiners or even long-time employees. When there is a new process or the process changes in SAP, I create walkthroughs so people can simply type how to book a hotel and then they have a walkthrough from beginning to end.
What is most valuable?
WalkMe's best features are great in general; walkthroughs are the best because they provide life guidance, as if someone is sitting next to you.
What makes walkthroughs stand out for me in WalkMe is the ease of use and customization from the editor's point of view. The interface is quite intuitive, and from the user's point of view, it is great to have help live, enabling end users to go step by step with processes that they have never seen before.
WalkMe has positively impacted my organization by making employees more efficient. The positive impact from WalkMe, in terms of helping employees become more productive and reducing training time, is evident. Thanks to this WalkMe layer, using SAP is much easier for people, leading to fewer tickets to IT support and allowing people to focus on their work.
WalkMe helps with user adoption and engagement by making work easier for people and enabling them to start processes that they have never seen before. This is a big achievement for this software because you do not have to hire a trainer or create any guides; everything is in WalkMe.
What needs improvement?
While I am working with WalkMe, sometimes the application is crashing and it is not stable. Quick previews are not easily shown, and sometimes I need to wait a long time.
WalkMe needs to work on the stability and updates of the application. For example, when I create something, I need to wait a long time for it to be shown in the software, and those crashes are very annoying.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using WalkMe for around half a year.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
When WalkMe gives instructions or guides users, whether I find that information to be correct and helpful most of the time depends on the editor. If an editor makes walkthroughs messy or the inserted text is not clear, those mistakes will affect the whole process and the whole walkthrough.
WalkMe is quite stable in my experience; however, from the editor's point of view, it crashes sometimes and it can be difficult to work on some days, but in general, it is fine.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I do not know about WalkMe's scalability in my organization. I cannot say if it can handle more users or growing needs easily.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
WalkMe gives instructions or guides users and it is very useful. I am disappointed that there are no instructions on YouTube. This is very rare software, so if I am struggling with any function, I would appreciate having a YouTube channel with videos or playlists for each feature in editor mode.
How was the initial setup?
I am not sure how easy or difficult it was to implement WalkMe, as I am not a change manager. I am a specialist in WalkMe, so I cannot answer this question.
What about the implementation team?
I create some walkthroughs for compliance with WalkMe, but we do not create any reports or measurements so far.
What was our ROI?
I have not seen a return on investment from using WalkMe, as I have not noticed any time saved, money saved, or fewer employees needed.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I have no idea about the pricing, setup cost, and licensing, as I am not a change manager.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
I do not have anything else to add about the features.
What other advice do I have?
I am not sure how WalkMe integrates with other systems or software in my organization. There is SAP and I have a plugin in the browser, and then I open it and create walkthroughs.
Handling training or onboarding for new users with WalkMe is not my role responsibility.
I would recommend creating a sandbox. I suggest using guidance and support without any blockers, as your support is very helpful and answers quite fast.
I do not think my company has a business relationship with WalkMe other than being a customer.
I am open to reviewing some other features with a gift card from WalkMe.
I found this interview through a woman who wrote to me on LinkedIn and offered a gift card, creating a special link for me.
My overall review rating for WalkMe is 9 out of 10.
