AscentStrategy is a methodology that drives the development of a strategy for the vision, value, and ownership paradigm of a company’s data estate. The methodology begins with a series of interviews with data constituents and stakeholders conducted to assess current uses and future demands of data & analytics and business processes. These use cases are detailed in use case and pain point inventories. The principals will be used to then develop a data & analytics strategy that is holistic, use-case driven, pragmatic, stakeholder-driven, and lean where planning is driven across 6 pillars of maturity:

From a value perspective, the methodology will assess the costs and benefits of discovered use-cases to allow for the most efficient and effective use of capital. The methodology will also assess business value from a productivity and cycle time perspective. A survey will be conducted to identify the different ownership roles across the organization in terms of producers of data, consumers of data, and hybrid roles. This allows a baseline to use in assessing cost savings from productivity associated with a particular business case. A maturity assessment will be conducted across the 6 pillars identified earlier and presented in the form of a heat-map. This is critical in enabling the conversations required to create the roadmap that stakeholders can understand as the strategy and vision are put into action. Validation workshops will follow to confirm that there is agreement with the stakeholders that the assessment accurately captures the correct perspective.
