Overview
Financial crime and modern slavery indices – investors and banks
The pressure on banks to play their part in cracking down on financial crime has never been greater. Verisk Maplecroft’s jurisdictional data empowers financial institutions to carry out adequate risk-based prioritisation and assessments via a uniquely thorough review of financial crime risks in all countries and territories worldwide. The analysis accounts for legal and structural characteristics, the processes each government has put in place to address financial crime, and the scale of the threat itself. The dataset also includes a risk assessment of modern slavery as one of the key predicate crimes of money laundering, as recognised by the FATF and multiple national authorities. Investors also rely on the Modern Slavery Index to inform engagement with companies in their portfolios, as well as for conducting the risk assessments that underpin their own modern slavery statements.
With our proprietary analytics, advanced forecasting techniques and extensive emerging and frontier market expertise, we’re well placed to support you.
• Our country risk analytics support financial crime and modern slavery risk analysis across multiple asset classes and are a basis for more in-depth investigation and engagement
• Analysts research the key issues our clients are asking, leveraging our proprietary analytics and rigorous judgement-based forecasting techniques
This dataset includes the following indices: Money Laundering Risk; Terrorist Financing Risk; Tax Avoidance Risk; and Modern Slavery. The first three indices cover 213 countries and territories, while the Modern Slavery Index covers 198 countries.
A data dictionary is included with the data set. Key fields include the following:
• Country • Country Code • Coordinates • Dataset type • Descriptors • Index name • Score level • Variable name • Quarter of release • Value of index or indicator
