I am running 14.0, released 9/15/15 by Turnkey Linux. The installation went well (and very quick), and the site runs lightning fast, without any flaws thus far. I highly recommend this - much simpler than attempting to stand it up on your own. I am very satisfied with this service.

the product launching is OK and we are still configuring the product and so far we have not found any issues.

Didn't work and wasted a bunch of my time.

I tried multiple versions of this offering from TurnKey, their AMI and the built-it-on-the-fly offering. The Canvas 12.0 AMI seemed to work, but I need at least 13.0. The 13.0 AMI launched, but erred out and wouldn't even show the login page.

I investigated the errors, googled around a lot, and there were a lot of claims about how to fix it, but none of those worked either. Frankly, I think that the whole thing needs to be rebuilt from scratch.

The bottom line of this is that AMIs are supposed to work, especially from an outfit styling itself with the name "TurnKey". They're trying to make money out of backup or some such, which is fine with me, but if they're trying to suck us into their other services with the teaser of a bunch of AMIs, they should make sure that their AMIs actually work.

I added up the time I spent on experimenting and trying to get this to work in varying forms and it would have paid for a couple of years worth of AWS machine resources.

In desperation I went back to trying to build it for myself and managed to get a build to limp along. Yet more gray hair and peptic ulcers. I'd have been happy to have outsourced it.

One might ask why it is that Instructure doesn't offer its own AMIs. If they can't build it trivially in AWS then how can they expect the rest of us to?
