Wowza Streaming Engine 4: Bring Your Own License
I launched the instance in a breeze, thanks to aws. However, I struggled to get the wowza server up using the key i purchased, which i've been using in local server. I deleted the key in local server, then i saved it in the new aws wowza insance.
I could activate the new wowza instance with new trial key. What i ould understand from this is that

"If you are activating new instance with wowza BYOL, it's better you should use the unused wowza lic key."

This system works right out of the box, and the Wowza team provides excellent support. I spoke to humans on the phone and they were very helpful. I haven't dug into the modules yet, but I'm confident that I made the right choice using Wowza Streaming Engine via AWS. Thanks Wowza!

The documentation right in the product is a great touch, and the forum community is fantastic.

It had taken me 1 hour to go live for a timebound web casting two years back and we are still continuing with wowza solution.

It is great boon for casual streaming and we only pay if we use.

I actually run a streaming company where we use a third party to host and manage our backend Wowza server and associated reporting. I now have an appreciation for the details of the Wowza server area.
Although with this Wowza on AWS approach, I thought it would be an avenue to explore. Setting up Wowza and getting it working was pretty easy. I had read that the instance wouldn't support rtmp streaming, but I didn't have any issue with it at all. I was encoding using FMLE via an rtmp stream and it worked great.

Ease of use

Setting up a Wowza Streaming Engine instance using the AWS
command line utilities from Linux is very straight forward.
This allows my church to stream to many more members than
we can with our local Wowza instance. Cost is very reasonable.

... and launched in the EC2 cloud simply rocks! It's good to have prior experience with Wowza as such, which you can easily and free of charge gain by installing it on your local machine Windows/OSX/Linux, then just spin off the servers in the cloud.
