AppDynamics - SRE's Best Friend
What do you like best about the product?
I like the observability and visibility we get with AppDynamics. In one pane of glass we are able to observe the metrics that matter to us and quickly identify the source of the challenge
What do you dislike about the product?
In the enterprise we often find it challenging to integrate all of what AppDynamics has to offer.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to globally view and record synthetic monitoring metrics, database insight, business transaction traces, infrastructure monitoring and comprehensive dashboards
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Fully understand all the AppDynamics has to offer. Take advantage of their sales engineers and support. It is not a set and forget tool, rather a platform to continuously add-on to.

Some textbox does not display all data in correct formatting

Performance issues faced by our customers are easily traceable in App D and right stakeholders are engaged at right point in time.

What do you like best about the product?
Single monitoring tool with all monitoring features like BTs,Transaction snapshots, RCA, DB, Log, Hardware, Application, End user, Analytics monitoring.
What do you dislike about the product?
Many types of agents which makes the things complex and time consuming to implement and maintaining.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps to troubleshoot the issue in application in a very quick time, so it reduces outage time in production. In Lower environment it helps for performance tuning. And business metrics gives us add on values.
AppDynamic is the best application performance management system available in market.

The best feature of AppDynamics I considered of Code-Level visibility on business application to diogenitic root level issues.

Difficult to say dislike any features of AppDynamics, few of features are having less functionality and hope by the time will improve.

Well monitored trend database performance.

Great for monitoring customer experience
What do you like best about the product?
The tool has a wealth of features, though i find the End User Monitoring alongside the BizIQ really powerful and gives great insights as to the customers experience. AppDynamics continue to grow and have some exciting integrations such as the acquisition of ThousandEyes network monitoring. This tool keeps getting better and the support from the Customer success programs has really helped us get ROI

Not much to say hear. It is a bit pricey but it is a high end product and provides a high level of monitoring

To have one tool that covers many aspects of monitoring which AppDynamics does flawlessly. The capabilities of AppDynamics have helped us move to a more pro-active monitoring model.

I can do betterments in licensing module.

Tracking key business applications and invoking ops team with great insights.
A Game Changer in SAP Performance Monitoring
What do you like best about the product?
Transaction snapshot drill down gives very detailed insight of the transaction that was slow or in error, the call graphs provide the quickest view of an transaction path with time taken at each node and time taken between nodes.
The upsides are baseline comparison against daily/weekly/monthly trends.
Custom dashboards caters the needs of all the teams across every level in our organization.
Violations and Anomalies section is much helpful to view all violations with severity and timeline when we have a major disruption

What do you dislike about the product?
AppD must colloborate with SAP and enable to monitor SAP Cloud Applications.
The downsides are sometimes AppD gave incorrect CPU utilization which then needed fine tuning.
It caused 15 minutes disruption to our business when the AppD machine agents were reconfigured during business hours.
During the troubleshooting underlying error showed more than 90% of the time consumed by AppD agent which was later corrected.
Real time user monitoring browser plugin for SAP cloud applications was causing other issues which prevented the SAP application to work as expected.
The downsides are sometimes AppD gave incorrect CPU utilization which then needed fine tuning.
It caused 15 minutes disruption to our business when the AppD machine agents were reconfigured during business hours.

Easy to use
What do you like best about the product?
It has so many options and once you've got to know all the pages and buttons it's easy to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes hard where to find what, also because of the many clickable options.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mostly latency and error issues within our applications. Appdynamics sends us an alert and so we can fix the issue before real problems start to happen.
App Dynamics for MQ and IIB has been very interesting and challenging. I love this

Though it is technically challenging. It brings the web view of all the monitoring which is missing in other products

Complexity to set up in some monitors like MQ/IIB

What do you like best about the product?
AppD is the best Application monitoring tool in the industry. AppD provides in-depth insights into a customer application landscape including Onprem, SaaS, Business, COTS, etc. AppD has improved a lot by focusing on relevant Infra monitoring pertaining to those application landscape as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
AppD need to work on a simpler pricing structure covering end to end Infra monitoring(Servers, Database, Networks) and application landscape.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We solve complete Application specific problems and rely upon more matured tools for Infra monitoring. While the complete integrated Analytics and Dashboard provides end to end view, isolating the exact root cause finds it difficult sometimes to identify which tool had the issue. Most of the times, AppD has proved to give benefits like Application oriented business revenue insights, End customer satisfaction improved insights, etc.
