AppDynamics is Taking APM to the Board Room
What do you like best about the product?
AppD allows our organization to drive fundamental changes throughout our organization. We're better understanding how we and our customers utilize and drive revenue, and ultimately digital transformation through their apps.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is little to dislike. The one aspect of AppD that I would request is to increase the speed of integration. The more tools, platform, and data sources that AppD can pick up, the better and richer the data becomes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ultimately we got started with AppD because MTTR was affecting our customers. We're now moving into helping our customers understand their operation even more; how their customers purchase, how revenue is affected by outages, and ultimately, how we leverage AI to better anticipate outages and changes.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Explain the true business value of the product not just the tech benefits.

AppD shows what is happening to your VMs. You can see the flow of your application from beginning to end.

Not sure. So far this product has met all my expectations

To visualize the flow of my application. To be able to debug problems when they happen. To be able to pinpoint where my application is having problems.

Try to learn everything posible, early. It's a product with a lot of features.

App Dynamics saved us time
What do you like best about the product?
App Dynamics help us identify slow traffic on our mobile app down to the node that was causing the issue. We re also able to create dashboards to use that help us translate performance to the business so they have a picture of what is happening.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can honestly say there is noting I dislike about App Dynamics. Every day it helps us learn more and become proactive as opposed to reactive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We recently had an issue where customers on our mobile app where having a poor user experience. With App Dynamics, we were able to see the transaction that was causing latency and trace it back to a DB issue. Without that, we would have to search for hours instead of minutes.

Great Product - Easy to setup and use
What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about AppDynamics is it is very easy to setup and configure, with some good experience about softwares and servers in general, a user can be up and ready to use AppDynamics within 30 minutes. The out of the box features allow you to quickly view a lot of data about your application which you do not have access to otherwise.
What do you dislike about the product?
A better user experience can be provided on the dashboard creation. From my experience you can create great dashboards but then a user creating the dashboard should be well versed with the tool as well as know details about their own application in order to create a impressive dashboard. Some of the custom metric widgets on dashboards are not that email friendly and can be enhanced to provide a better configuration ability.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are mainly looking for bottlenecks within our application and trying to identify the most expensive backend calls. Currently we are mainly doing out of the box monitoring that is available and plan to increase and improve it in the next few months.

What do you like best about the product?
The best feature of Appdynamics is the flow map with the auto discovered business transactions and application end points. The auto discovery feature saves countless man hours configuring which metrics or transaction which are monitored.
What do you dislike about the product?
The community plugins are treated a second class citizens when integrating with the flow map.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Visibility in customer facing applications and services which drives daily revenue. Appdynamics allows my organization to get ahead and resolve issues before the can affect our customers.
