i like the ui it gives very nice view of what is going on alongwith the flexibility to plug in with cloud.

i have not used it to the best extent to show my dislike against it.

AppDynamics is very easy to use. Reporting is in real time and so it is very useful in finding issues. Customer support is excellent.

Depth of monitoring into Web applications and infrastructure is peerless. Complete suite of business-focused analytics, dashboards, reporting, and alerts for business users and IT.

Expensive. Functionality is overkill .When stacking up product units, can get pricey for enterprises as well.

AppDynamics is a fully realized website monitoring service for businesses, and a leader in both the website monitoring and application performance monitoring (APM) spaces

quick to install, we find out the problem in our it structure with this programm..It help us to optimise our enviroment.

What do you like best about the product?
I love the fact that you have eyes in pretty much all infrastructure, you are able to overview all transactions in real time also the node map allows you to view the flow of those transactions,
when it comes to graphics, you can overview CPU, memory, disk usage and network status in
every host, you can also set the alerts and thresholds accordingly.

What do you dislike about the product?
the user interface is not very friendly, navigating this app could be confusing at times,
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When it comes to monitoring tasks, this app is perfect, we are able to prevent, issues related to applications performance, we do use the threshold feature on the alerts to prevent issues related to memory usage or disk space usually on month ends when all reports are being completed.

What do you like best about the product?
In our environment, appdynamics is deployed in the jvm. There is minimal overhead. The GUI provides resource usage graphing and call chains with identified errors/exceptions.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don’t think our company uses it to its fullest potential. It would take a lot of setup to get it fully running from what I can tell. Especially building all of your Business Transaction rules. Sometimes the scope of the automated monitoring frequency doesn't capture full traces of the exact transaction you are looking for but the collective results get you what you need. Again this may be something we have not utilized, but it would be interesting to get reports of all the exceptions over a week's time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Monitoring heap usage, garbage collections and their timings, and handling exceptions. This is specifically used in our environment as an after-the-alarm tool, but it can be configured to perform the alarming itself.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Work with the AppDynamics team closely; they will help set it up, train your teams, and ensure you are off to a great start. Should anything arise during your deployment they will be there to help you along.
