Toad best tool for connecting to databases
What do you like best about the product?
this tool is easy to use compared to sql developer.it has more functionalities like sql loader, comparing files which makes it more productive and efficient.
What do you dislike about the product?
the tool shuts down intermittently.all the work which is not saved will be erased due to an unexpected error.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
developer can connect to databases and change data and provide excel reports. data can be transferred from a flat file to the oracle database. user will be provided with reports and sql queries can be run.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
less expensive tool with more options for developer, very user friendly.

Muy útil para la administración de base de datos, creación de procedimientos almacenados, funciones, tablas, triggers, etc...muy completa, y fácil de utilizar.

Quizá el orden de la instalación, así como su elevado coste sea lo peor

El poder manejar gran cantidad de volumen de datos es un dato muy a tener en cuanto que hace que sea uno de los programas mas potentes si hablamos de la gestión de las bases de datos
Easy Access to Data
What do you like best about the product?
Good database administration tool to view/manage table changes, to do data analysis and other data related tasks. It is a very interactive tool used by analysts among the organization to build and execute SQLs. Provides easy interaction with data and allows to monitor processes that are running on DB.
What do you dislike about the product?
The tool freezes when querying a large table with millions of data. Also, sometimes connection gets lost while working.

Toad es un entorno en el que la visualización de datos es genial. Te muestra de una manera muy clara todos los datos que obtienes y la relación entre ellos.
Otro aspecto muy bueno es la manera en la que puedes exportar datos. Teniendo un gran abanico de posibilidades (Excel, tsv. csv, y muchos más).
Para finalizar, TOAD facilita mucho el cambio entre entornos y esquemas. De la misma manera que tiene una herramienta para poder visualizar tu base de datos y buscar tablas o registros. (Herramienta muy útil para grandes bases de datos).

Lo que me gusta menos de TOAD es el hecho de no poder modificar los datos en el resultado de una query anteriormente realizada.
De la misma manera que al realizar una query en la que no se devuelven datos, se limpian los resultados que antes tenías obligándote a usar otra vez la query original.
Para finalizar, TOAD ofrece muy pocas opciones de visualización.

Explorar grandes bases de datos, modificar sus valores y arreglar pequeños errores que aparecen en la generación de pedidos de clientes.

Toad es un muy buen entorno para las personas que no han tenido un contacto muy directo con las bases de datos. Tiene opciones muy buenas y sencillas para empezar a configurar tu entorno y, tiene un aspecto poco agresivo para el nuevo usuario.

What do you like best about the product?
Toad is a small beast around SQL development, you can have thousands of tables and the indexation and current searchs work fantastic, if I had to describe it in one word it should be fast.
What do you dislike about the product?
I kind of miss some features like more semantic control around the language used, sometimes I have to import the code to notepad++ to make faster changes in portions of code.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Almost anything SQL related can be solved with this fast software, but mostly when it comes to searches if you use proper indexation it flies around thousands of tables, even on not related tables it works surprisingly fast, sometimes I hope the search algorithm is adapted to other software I use to have this fast response on any software.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Toad is your best chance if your focus on DB SQL is not secondary issue, if you deploy and work with any other more big software like Eclipse and your SQL use is not the main focus in the project I can't recommend Toad enough, it loads very fast, it provides not many options but it's more than enough for light revisions of code and fast debugs.

What do you like best about the product?
It has extensive features related to the database operations. It has various ways to connect to the database, through tns file or directly by entering the host name and the service name.
Writing packages and procedures is also very simple in toad and also the performance tuning of the SQL statements is easier as compared to the SQL Developer. The Explain Plan provided by TOAD is quite intrinsic and extensive.

What do you dislike about the product?
The UI of TOAD looks very busy, it can be cleaned up a little bit to provide ease of use and better performance for the system and user. This de-cluttering is a major issue with respect to my usage of SQL Developer
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Working on Siebel, which connects to Oracle database invariably needs an application to query the database. Even though we have SQL Developer, TOAD is way more complex and meets the needs of a developer.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are using the SQL Developer, you should switch to TOAD and see the benefits - ease of use, better compatibility, faster way of achieving the results, complex functionalities combined in one tool which makes it a one stop shop for multiple functions.
Toad is an excellent application for developing and administering databases.

it's very simple to use, ad is a very quicly way to check our database

sometimes the function that allows you to quickly select the fields of a table is a bit slow.

Nothing really to dislike, maybe some of the newer version keep on crashing. not sure if it is windows issue or toad

No better alternatives to TOAD

What do you like best about the product?
The fact that TOAD allows me to do data modelling, also the simple fact that it tells me where I've made an error in a SQL. This tool takes the simple tasks and trials into consideration.
What do you dislike about the product?
There really isn't much about this tool to dislike. Sometimes when running larger queries the tool will lock up when you try and cancel a query.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability to run Data Models has been huge for us as our vendor has never been able to provide them. So we have gained new insights into how our data connects and operates. Increasing the accuracy and value of our SQLs.

Don't hesitate, you won't be disappointed.
