Fast, powerful analysis and development tool!

What do you like best about the product?
I like how quickly I can perform data analysis. Exporting data from queries is so much cleaner that other SQL tools.
Many times there are formatting issues when generating output into a spreadsheet or .csv file. I've never had any problems with Toad.
I have seen demonstrations of how you can create SQL automation and it looks pretty sweet. I haven't had the change to try it in Toad but next time I will. The demos available online and the videos are very thorough. Anything that you need to do is all on the web.
What do you dislike about the product?
The diagram tool is clunky, not very useful. There is not enough room in the diagram space to make a diagram of more than a few table. Also, there is only space to the right of the workspace.
The tutorial videos are nice but I'm more of a reading steps learner. It seems harder to find written instructions than videos.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it to perform data analysis and SQL queries across multiple schemas.
The major benefit is the responsive interface and quick output. Viewing meta data and generating output can be performed in just a few clicks.
The build feature allows you to create SQL queries by dragging and dropping table and clicking on and off columns. All you have to do is add filters, some of which are also just a click away.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I recommend considering Toad especially if you are developing or performing analysis across various database platforms.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

The Tool for Oracle

What do you like best about the product?
Toad is really the best interface for accessing Oracle that I've used. Aside from being a comprehensive tool, it gives you options for customization and workflow, that you can build up everything you'd need to complete your data-driven on a day to day basis. It's fast, easy to learn, and it provides a no-nonsense way to do business with their different flavors of Toad.
What do you dislike about the product?
I've had some preferences lost in the course of an upgrade. We have a very specific network and operating system environment with roaming profiles, so that could simply be a result that.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My team conducts data analysis and support with an enterprise class ERP. Aside from using it as a direct interface to our Oracle tables, we also use it to write, test, and run ad hoc scripts for data maintenance.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There are a few different options out there, but Toad is the gold standard for an Oracle interface.

Ashley Review - Business Analyst

  • June 20, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I am brand new to SQL coding, but not necessarily to programming and I found Toad extremely user friendly and easy to pick up.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't dislike anything. I would say the most confusing thing for me personally was getting my TNS set up but I know that is separate from Toad. The only other thing I can think of it that I somehow updated the GUI and lost the button to add a new sql window. I now have to do it manually through the file menu. I have not been able to figure out how to get it back.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use to Toad provide business analysis to a health insurance provider.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take advantage of all offered training.
