Useful for some indutries where data type is agnostic
What do you like best about the product?
We can manage using fewer resources as ours is a small team. It is very much resilient. We were able to easily scale up without having to incur heavy costs. We were abe to automate many of our backend tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
Secondary indexes does not work very well. Column comparisons do not have much support.Riak wouldn't work well when size of DB is small.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Riak is helping us in Advertising – serving ad content, session storage, mobile experiences, etc For advertsing we would need access to large sets of data, RIak helps us achieve that with its key/value data model.

Can connect as ec2-user but NOT as root
Hi Guys
Not able to start riak.
On running the command "riak start"
i get a message to be connected as root.
I can connect as ec2-user but NOT as root.
puzzling !!

It's Riak
Image is just the standard Amazon Machine Instance, with Riak installed, and preconfigured with known optimizations. Works great out of the box. You should run `sudo yum update` though to get the latest version of Riak on it though.
