Actually I tried SlashDB from curiosity. I wasn't sure how this may be useful.
Well to be honest it did exactly what it says. I gave SlashDB access to my MySQL database (host, user, password) and it found all tables and relations. Quite fast I got an REST API for my applications. It's like half of the work was done. That was nice!
Browsing data using GUI is ok, doesn't shock but the real useful stuff is that all that can be acquired as a xml, json, or csv. And the best thing was it fully uses the power of xml and json nested structure. I could pull out via http for instance user and his posts with one request.
PUT and POST works too, so it's not only for viewing data.
Seems to be a good idea. I've decided to give it some more time and will try to build an app based on it. We'll see how it goes.
GUI may be a bit confusing from time to time when it gets to permissions who can see what etc. but guys from VTEnterprise are very helpful.
Summing up. Definitely worth trying.
