Great software but I don't need it

  • March 12, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I have used Spotfire off and on for many years and it is now more powerful and easier to use than ever. I really do love Spotfire and I recommend it to others regularly. But, I don't use it much myself.
What do you dislike about the product?
I guess the only problem is that I don't really need easy, I want more power and flexibility. Spotfire is great for the "Apple" crowd, but I'm a Windows/Android/Linux guy and a programmer (SQL, R, Python, Powershell, etc.)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Clinical and translational research, genomics, bioinformatics, biostatistics, machine learning, etc.

Clunky Transition to Cloud

  • March 12, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
ability to join data tables by Key/common column; ease of use for creating visualizations
What do you dislike about the product?
Inability to remove the line from Combo charts. The platform was undergoing a transition at the time of adoption which was very clunky and heavy with user admin burdens.
spotfire.cloud
spotfire-next.cloud
it was all very muddled and manual transfer of data was burdensome. You should really try to make system migrations free of any significant user interventions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Biotech R&D solutions are reached utilizing data curated in Spotfire.

TIBO Spotfire review

  • March 12, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Data wrangling is a fantastic feature of Spotfire. Statistical analysis and modeling are also very easy to do and I like a lot in Spotfire.
What do you dislike about the product?
I am a heavy Tableau user and from that, I can say drag and drop in Tableau are far better. Email notification and access control are also not present in Spotfire which are very required in today's BI world.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I tried to resolve a problem with a specific dataset where many data wrangling were required and I found Spotfire is brilliant in that.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Choose the product based on the requirement

Worth the investment if you're committed to real data analytics

  • March 08, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Spotfire's machine learning, econometrics, and advanced analytics functions combined with its data visualization capabilities make it a perfect fit for experienced analysts wanting to improve efficiency of data analysis. It's the analytics side that makes Tibco one of the best.
What do you dislike about the product?
Spotfire's default suggested graphics sometimes miss the mark, and sometimes I wish the software didn't make graphical suggestions at all. If the suggested graphics are good, then Spotfire has put a nice first step into its product. Most of the time, the suggested graphics are weakly chosen.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Spotfire is used by analysts wanting to improve their data analytics processes and others who do real-time data visualization.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure that you actually plan on using Spotfire on a consistent basis. Some companies purchase Spotfire but only use it sparingly. Such cases make the product not worth the money.

Powerful Data Analytics Tool

  • March 07, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Allows me to integrate multiple sources of data into a single database, look at five variables at the same time, and to instantly switch between different variables and visualize them.
What do you dislike about the product?
Ternary diagrams are missing, and it currently requires some awkward manipulation of two dimensions using trigonometry to display such a diagram. Also, displaying photos associated with data points, besides the tooltip, is currently beyond the skills of regular users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Spotfire was used by my organization mainly to analyze geological and oil production data and gain insight in order to address current challenges and make future decisions. It is used across the whole organization on an as-needed basis.
