Good but not ready for Production

I liked the fact that there was a splunk AMI and you can spin up splunk really fast. I was able to build an instance and be up in a matter of minutes. The issues I have with the AMI is that there is currently no support for the new C4 instances. I wanted to build a beefy splunk server with the latest CPUs since searches are CPU heavy and I'm not able to do that now. I also noticed that the AMI does not address disabling Transparent Huge Pages which splunk recommends. So, because I couldn't use the instance I wanted, I can't really use this AMI for my needs. I can use it for testing no problem though. The THP issues is not that big because you can disable it easy enough but if splunk is touting this AMI as a recommended configuration I would like to see the THP addressed since it causes performance issues.

Very useful for Data Analytics

What do you like best?
System setup is simple and there is good support for this product. Very easy to analyze data. and create dashboards. Queries execute instantaneously, and the result updates dynamically based on the incoming real time data.

There are many plugins available (free and paid), which can provide additional insights to data. I like using the Google Maps plugin and WebGL Globe visualization, and I recommend to use that in case the data contains the physical location (latitude and longitude).
What do you dislike?
It is expensive for commercial use. One needs to be conversant with Unix style commands for using Splunk.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Yelp Dataset Challenge: Analyzing Yelp Data to identify an ideal business domain and neighborhood to setup a new business within Phoenix, Arizona.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is a very simple and powerful tool to perform Data Analytics.

What do you like best?
The fact that it is possible to search on Splunk;
You don't have to access your actual servers to see logs;
There are enormous search and reporting capabilities;
What do you dislike?
It might require certain format to work properly with dates;
Does not support multiline log entries very well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ability to resolve issues much faster.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a must have for B2B software.
