Excellent hassle free SAP ERP installation

Initial based on the reviews of 'AbdAllah' and 'SAPUser' we weren't sure that we should use this, and because it appeared a little stale (this image is from 2015)

But emailing Rocket Steam's via the contact form on their site, I got almost an instant reply from the CEO answering all my questions and concerns. We went ahead today and used the AMI. Within half a day we got the installation working and just followed the simple instructions from the pdf that came along with this AMI.

This has significantly reduced our efforts compared to a manual installation on an AWS server, with SAP ERP and an Oracle DB. Which is what we originally planned to do and were several days into when we found this solution.

In short really happy with it!

Very Good Product Implementation

This product is for an experienced Basis administrator. The documentation is not written for someone who has never built or administered an SAP system and Oracle database.

If you are not familiar with AWS it is easy to create a system that you cannot access. Make sure the machine is deployed to a subnet with an Internet Gateway. If the subnet does not have an internet gateway the machine will not be reachable even if it has a public IP. Ensure that the security group allows incoming traffic for SAPGUI. These are learned from experience with AWS. The product cannot be faulted because an admin is inexperienced.

The documentation gives the master password for the SAP system. A password is not needed for the Oracle database. An admin can login by sudo-ing to root and connecting /as sysdba. Tip: Turn off archiving before generating all objects via sgen. The disk space will fill up and crash the system.

I was able to deploy a system in an afternoon and ready for demo the following afternoon. There are post-deployment tasks such as sgen, user creation, stms config, client copy, etc, that need to be completed before users are allowed on the system.

So far I have no complaints!
