Simple and powerful

What do you like best about the product?
We've used Loadbalancer.org's appliance extensively for TCP load balancing, SSL offloading, and both Layer 4 and Layer 7 load balancing. What stands out is how simple and fast it is to operate. The web interface is clean, and all the essential features are easily accessible without having to dig deep into complex menus. Despite the simplicity, it also supports more advanced configurations for those who need them. We've deployed it in AWS with high availability, and HA has worked flawlessly. Overall, it's been rock solid and reliable in production.

Their support is excellent—they reply quickly and are very knowledgeable. We also deployed the appliance via a CloudFormation template in AWS, and the process was very easy.

Setup of new virtual services is also very easy. I especially like the clone option, which makes it simple to add new ports based on existing configurations.
I also like the logic of how it recognises that the backend server is the same, even across multiple ports, and offers to disable all ports for that backend server—this is very helpful during maintenance.
What do you dislike about the product?
While the core functionality is excellent, visibility during issues is limited. The logs, reports, and graphs are fairly basic and lack deeper insight. Email alerts are not very customizable—you either receive too much or miss what you actually care about. This isn't a major problem when things are running smoothly (which is almost always the case), but during a troubleshooting scenario, you'd want more granular monitoring and alerting options.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It provides reliable load balancing across multiple application servers, which ensures high availability and performance for our services. The ability to recognize backend servers across multiple ports and offer to disable all related ports during maintenance is especially useful, making the process safer and more streamlined.

loadbalancer.org has been a great solution for Citrix Storefront. avoiding the need of expensive Netscalers.

As a Citrix expert I can confirm this load balancer solution is ideal for internal network Citrix Stofronts, it has great performance and it is easier to set up than AWS ALB or Netscalers.

The support team has been fast and savy.

Thank you.

Experience with Loadbalancer.org

  • January 16, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to set up and maintain. The use is simple and documentation is provided. The support is responsive.
What do you dislike about the product?
Presentation details could be improved, but especially the logging part is insufficient. The ADC portal is a very good idea, but it lacks maturity. Keep trying!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
First of all, the load balancer provides high availability for many services: Exchange, DNS, LDAP, Print, Web. You can stop 1 server without losing the service, which is very useful for updates, for example.

Helps prevent server overload by distributing the load across multiple servers, ensuring stability and enhancing security

  • September 11, 2023
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We're working on a project where our customers use HJ. We utilize their load balancer to evenly distribute the data load between multiple servers, ensuring that one server doesn't become overloaded.

How has it helped my organization?

Since I'm relatively new to the load-balancing scene, my current focus is primarily on data load-balancing.

What is most valuable?

If all the data traffic is directed to a single server, it can become overwhelmed. Load balancing helps us distribute both incoming and outgoing data loads evenly among the servers, preventing overload on a single server.

What needs improvement?

We could enhance the security aspects of the load balancer. For instance, when data passes through the load balancer, it could potentially include sensitive files or trade-related data. It would be beneficial to have additional features that help identify and protect against any unauthorized access or file leakage.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using it for past two months.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is scalable and I would rate it an eight out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

We're not currently using it because I've been testing it for about a month, and so far, everything seems fine.

How was the initial setup?

The choice of environment depends and specific needs and requirements. The setup process for the testing phase typically takes me around 30 minutes to an hour. It involves installing the tool and entering necessary information like SSL details. The staffing requirement depends on the project's size, with a small-scale solution typically requiring only one person to manage. I would rate it seven out of ten.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

So far, I would rate it around a five out of ten.

What other advice do I have?

Loadbalancer.org is highly valuable for organizations dealing with extensive file transfers. It helps prevent server overload by distributing the load across multiple servers, ensuring stability and enhancing security.

I would rate it an eight out of ten.
