A robust, comprehensive LInux distro for Oracle database users
What do you like best about the product?
Oracle Linux is a streamlined Linux distro that is compability with many rpm and application packages and is one of the more widely supported distros out there. Its strong business and networking support can help admins to implement the distro with less trouble than other versions of Linux.
What do you dislike about the product?
Like other forms of Linux, it can be a learning curve from Windows admins and users alike. Difficulty can be found when adding drivers for non-standardized hardware or perpherials.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a basic enterprise level OS, the Linux distro has been a great use for basic networking needs without the higher costs of a Windows Server OS. Its similarity to Red Hat Linux is also an added plus. It offers a fairly standardized setup with wide compability with Linux applications as well as support from the community.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Would be buyers may want to look at Red Hat Enterprise Linux instead. It offers the same features and greater levels of compatibility with other applications.
