Is Tableau the best?
What do you like best about the product?
One feature that I admire the most about Tableau is the "Drag and Drop" feature. It makes it easier to work.
No prior coding skills required to use tableau.
No prior coding skills required to use tableau.
What do you dislike about the product?
One of the best features i.e. drag and drop turns out to be a bane to tableau.
No ETL capabilities makes it just a front end design tool
No ETL capabilities makes it just a front end design tool
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have been using tableau to complete my school projects.
I am finding the factors affecting the business of a manufacturing company and providing recommendations based on this analysis.
I have also used it to showcase the regression and predictive analysis of diabetic patients.
I am finding the factors affecting the business of a manufacturing company and providing recommendations based on this analysis.
I have also used it to showcase the regression and predictive analysis of diabetic patients.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Bring in ETL capabilities.
Tableau - one source of reporting tool
What do you like best about the product?
Amount of meaningful reports that can be built and dimensions of data representations that helps business drive
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing specific to its functionality or capability. Lack of usage knowledge or documentation was an initial hinderance to try different things.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cost reporting, SLA measurement, operational productivity measurement and tracking
High-level data visualizations for the amateur
What do you like best about the product?
Click and drag interface makes it easy to obtain complex visualizations even for an amateur programmer. Interactivity with visualizations is a big plus. Accessibility of online video tutorials served as a good starting place to learn -- I haven't had/needed any further formal training.
What do you dislike about the product?
Price makes it prohibitive to share with some users who are not developers. Tableau Reader is a weak substitute (possibly by design). Tableau is a fair skill to have right now if you don't plan to deepen your data science/analytic skills further in your career, but may be surpassed by other coding languages in the future (R, Python) by data science practitioners.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data visualization problems, auto-refreshed dashboards and summaries
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Good tool to learn if you are somewhat peripheral to data science work -- data scientists or predictive modelers are likelier to code in scripting languages such as R and Python to produce visualizations.
Good for analytics
What do you like best about the product?
Visualization, charts, search criteria, speed, algorithm updates
What do you dislike about the product?
Slow to respond sometimes, limited export options
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Analytics
Visualize data like never before
What do you like best about the product?
The extensive and free resources available on the official Tableau website lets anyone quickly understand the features and build visualizations. Data from various sources like Excel, PDF, text file etc cane be easily connected and further, cleaned (with an in-build feature named Tableau prep). The recommended type of visualization from the wide gamut of options helps develop better results. The new dashboard and new story features where-in various worksheets can be combined to tell a story makes it stand out from the other similar software available in market. Not only visualizations, but also various complex analytics pertaining to data can be easily enabled through the software.
What do you dislike about the product?
For large data sizes, the software gets stuck and sometimes goes to the extent of crashing. Also, Tableau prep tool is not very effective for cleaning purpose.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I utilized Tableau to develop visualizations such as heat maps, histograms, line graphs, pie charts etc. and further developed worksheets, dashboards and stories to present business case as part of my Master's coursework.Apart from visualizations, it helped me perform various complex analysis and also enabled sensitivity analysis through its features like parameter control and filtering.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If the data makes no sense at all, it is good to evaluate other similar tools which are providing various possible hypothesis once the data is loaded.
Nice visualizations
What do you like best about the product?
Great tools but can be tricky at the beginning
What do you dislike about the product?
Connections to data do not automatically refresh
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creating dashboards to visualize data
One of the best tools I have used for visualization of data
What do you like best about the product?
The best feature of Tableau is the amount of documentation available for new users. I feel that kind of documentation helps everyone to come onboard and try things with a tableau. I have used this software for various projects and never had a problem with any number of datasets. Indeed it is one of the best software for visualization.
What do you dislike about the product?
The thing which does not go well with me for Tableau is the high pricing. For students, it is free up until there i20 period but it is a bit too costly for individuals. Hence, I personally feel they should regulate their pricing structure.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have a dataset for a US pharmaceutical company and we extensively use Tableau for reporting purposes. With Tableau the data connections to different software are so seamless that it makes our jobs as consultants to visualize anything using Tableau. Hence, I recommend all the companies to use Tableau for reporting needs.
Business analytics tool
What do you like best about the product?
Has the functionality to be able to cut data in a variety of ways and can show them in charts, graphs or tables
What do you dislike about the product?
Is not super intuitive to use. Takes awhile to understand the structure
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It provides the platform to read results for the business
Easy to use analytical tool
What do you like best about the product?
The presentation and to ease of working around with various dashboards and results in tableau fascinate me. The data presented can be far more impactful than a ton of raw data
What do you dislike about the product?
The saving method where you cannot save something privately and causes you to share a bunch of info that you would not have if it were for a local file saving
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Making sense of a bunch of data and observing patterns and hence predicting various outcomes based on that
