How I wish Jasper would improve
What do you like best about the product?
Performance under load is excellent. We rarely have performance issues
What do you dislike about the product?
It's hard to use and design new reports. We devote 2 FTEs to this task
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Statewide reporting for Community College applications - 2.3 million per year
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be prepared for a bit of work, but the product is pretty solid under heavy load.

It is easy to navigate the UI when designing reports

I do not like there is no cloud platform for us to give out and make dashboards for customers

we are making analytic reports via Jaspersoft, the benefits initally were great due to PDF reports being able to be exported and printed out

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to program items to fit our needs as an ETL utilizing organization. Very straightforward to set up and train others on as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes there are bugs that I cannot control and it takes a lot of forum posts to figure out what is going on in my program. Updating to new versions of Jasper has been a pain cuz Java

Out data warehouse and reporting team is using jasper to automate data transformation and cleanup and then also prepare it for our system to take in.

What do you like best about the product?
Jasper soft is a open source Java reporting tool. It has an easy and understandable interface for end users to use.connects to different data sources and allows joining and union operations.With the data we create, we are able to make visualizations such as bar chart and pie chart.
In addition, We can create report with different types of parameters like single value,boolean,single select, multi select etc.

What do you dislike about the product?
As per my experience product support should be improved. I posted some queries in community but I did not get response so far.

it has improved our business quality by converting a large amount of data into more meaningful visuals.

but doesn't include some features like subreports stretch vertically when others stretch to match each other

Very easy to use for how powerful it is and the resulting reports can be.

The user's guide / help / documentation could be a little more thorough.

Our business relies on being able to provide our clients with reports showing meaningful data, and Jaspersoft's software allows us to provide those reports in a user friendly and professional manner.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I am not familiar with Crystal Reports, so I cannot offer a comparison there. But Jaspersoft has fulfilled all of our reporting needs beautifully over the past year.

What do you like best about the product?
For the most part, and for what I usually use it for- formatting, adding static text, etc.- the 'dashboard' is fairly easy and straightforward.
What do you dislike about the product?
I lack in xml and coding and so I know I'm missing out because of this. I feel like there are endless possibilities with this program! The platform can be overwhelming but once you use it a few times, you get the hang of it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Needing to change and create reports that our SIS database spits out. It has saved my butt numerous times so I don't have to call our SIS database's technical support.
Excellent software but aging and not innovating compared to more recent products
What do you like best about the product?
Open source, enterprise grade software that has a long history and is very well documented. Has large amount of user following.
What do you dislike about the product?
Software technology is aging, even though efforts have been made to modernize stack and software, there are better options currently out there.
