Has improved disaster recovery with seamless server replication and reduced operational costs
What is our primary use case?
We use NAKIVO Backup & Replication to replicate our workloads, as we run the VMware vSphere environment, allowing us to replicate those servers or VMs from production to DR.
Recently, just a few weeks ago, we had an issue with our storage on which the VMs were hosted, and thankfully, because we were running NAKIVO Backup & Replication, we had already replicated the servers from production to DR, so when the storage in production went off, we were able to bring up the servers at the DR site without any interruption, with just minimal data loss.
What is most valuable?
NAKIVO Backup & Replication has been useful; in terms of licensing, it is way cheaper than other solutions, and setting it up in terms of implementation was easier and not difficult to do. The user interface is friendly and straightforward to use.
The best features NAKIVO Backup & Replication offers in my experience include the VMware replication jobs, which allow us to schedule the replication of servers at specific times and move them as quickly as possible. The Change Block Technology (CBT) aspect helps us check if data has really moved without even turning on the server, by just looking at the reports that have been sent, making it a beneficial feature.
NAKIVO Backup & Replication has positively impacted our organization by providing much cheaper pricing compared to other solutions, which means we have saved more money, and integrating it with our solution, the VMware vSphere, is not challenging.
What needs improvement?
It would be helpful if NAKIVO Backup & Replication could explore other areas such as UNIX environments, like IBM AIX server versions, since most of the core banking applications sit on those, which we need to back up and integrate.

I have been working in my current field for over a year, and I have been using NAKIVO Backup & Replication for over two years, with a year in my previous employment and more than a year in the current role.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
NAKIVO Backup & Replication is generally stable in my environment as it relies on the network to do its migration, so while it is stable overall, a stable network is necessary for it to run effectively.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
NAKIVO Backup & Replication is easy to scale up; we recently deployed a number of transporters in our two environments, making scaling straightforward.
How are customer service and support?
My experience with customer support for NAKIVO Backup & Replication has been largely positive; they are mostly available on weekdays, but if you need assistance on a weekend, you have to notify them in advance, making weekend support a bit challenging.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I have had experience using Veeam, but my institution was using a different solution that lacked efficient replication features, leading us to switch to NAKIVO Backup & Replication, which offers easy use, flexibility, and a user-friendly interface. Previously, we were using Iperius, which was not too efficient.
What was our ROI?
I do not have much information on the return on investment, but I can say that if we were to go for other solutions such as Veeam, we would have paid much more, considering the number of servers we use in our environment. In terms of money, we have saved more, and because we are able to replicate everything from production to DR, we can now seamlessly work in any environment we want without needing many employees, as just one person in a single pane of glass can handle the switching.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
Before choosing NAKIVO Backup & Replication, we evaluated other options, including Veeam and Iperius. Since Veeam charges per instance and had high costs based on the instances, we opted for NAKIVO Backup & Replication, which charges per number of sockets and does almost everything Veeam does, making it a better choice for us.
What other advice do I have?
I think NAKIVO Backup & Replication is a good tool and I would recommend it to anybody.

What do you like best about the product?
The operation is straightforward, and the support responds very quickly. The price-performance ratio is also convincing. Backups can be scheduled effortlessly, and any error messages are clearly understandable. Restoring data also works reliably. The installation went smoothly, and setting up the backup jobs was intuitive. It is particularly positive that support is also quickly available for remote sessions if needed. Nakivo runs around the clock without failures, and the backups are always performed reliably.
What do you dislike about the product?
Restoring individual files from a virtual disk is somewhat cumbersome with ext4 partitions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Nakivo does not cause problems, and if problems arise for other reasons, Nakivo solves them.

What is our primary use case?
My main use case for NAKIVO Backup & Replication is that I use it for replicas.
I can give a quick, specific example of how I use NAKIVO Backup & Replication for replicas in my work, as I use it for replicating all machines and data centers for all my customers, specifically MSP.
I handle replication for my customers with a file server, monitoring for the data center, specifically Hyper-V, and for cloning information for file servers and physical servers too.
How has it helped my organization?
NAKIVO Backup & Replication has positively impacted my organization and my customers because it is not expensive and easy to use. I can see all the backup and replication processes, and I can protect all my customer data. It's the best solution when compared with others.
The time savings and customer satisfaction demonstrate specific positive outcomes. The customers are happy with the solution and appreciate that it is not expensive.

NAKIVO Backup & Replication is very easy to use, helps save money, and provides 24/7 support. There is very good documentation available on the official site. It's an excellent tool and solution, and you always have attention from both the partner and directly from NAKIVO.
I have noticed that integration with SAP Business One is not complete for NAKIVO Backup & Replication at this moment.

What do you like best about the product?
Nakivo is quick to setup and user friendly. There are a number of features such as replication, backup, failover and failback which makes allows workloads to migrated successfully. It provides detailed reports into why a job was successful or why it failed. The customer and technical support team are always available and willing to explain into details for resolution and better understanding.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing i dislike about Nakivo is that, it is unable to support Unix like platforms like IBM AIX servers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a consultant, i need to ensure my clients are at peace even when their Primary site goes off in times of disaster. Knowing very well they can comfortably work from their Disaster Recovery site. Nakivo has helped me to replicate all workloads to DR and now they can choose to work seamlessly with little to no lag between the two environments ie. Prod and DR.

UI Modernization, admin console experience is great, easy to navigate but the design itself is outdated.

All business critical systems are enabled with Automatic backup with schedule. It just works, not so many backup failures except when the node is shutdown. Overall, it just works as expected which is important.

We ve been using nakivo for ages, and it has an easy interface that even a none technical professional can understand.
Implementation literally took minutes and we had assistance from customer support and our account manager who is with us all the way. The solution is used on a weekly basis and it has numerous features that allows you to protect your data. Integration in our system was done successfully

As for the downside, I haven't seen any yet.

I really like how easy it is to deploy and use. Nakivo supports a wide range of environments (VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix, Proxmox, physical servers, Microsoft 365, NAS, and multiple clouds), and the 24/7 support is excellent without the high costs you usually see with other vendors. It delivers great value for money.

The platform is very solid, but some advanced features like disaster recovery and monitoring could benefit from more detailed reporting and customizable dashboards. That said, Nakivo updates frequently and keeps improving with each release.

Great backup solution for SMBs
What do you like best about the product?
The range of features for the price, it’s an excellent replacement for more well known brand that seems to take its customer’s for granted with regards pricing, especially in the SMB space.
The fact it can install as an app on a range of NAS hardware means we can save on Windows server licensing, and have a dedicated back up device.
Offer of free consultation to setup the product in production environment and adhere to best practices.
What do you dislike about the product?
So far as I know, removable media has to be set up as multiple repositories instead of the software dealing with a bundle of devices that may be rotated as a single entity. It requires a bit more configuration than anticipated but with job cloning options was fairly easy in the end.

Seems very comparable to more popular and well known backup vendors features.
Saving money on other vendors who see fit to price gouge on subscriptions.
Saving on Windows server licenses.

The most helpfull thing is the configuration. Countless options for backup settings, schedules. Works great in synology enviroment. Also works great with any type of media, External disks, onboard disk, cloud, tape. Excellent support for the setup. Also great backup speed.
