Make your IT infrastructure more secured.
Has behavioral rules that are auto-populated based on organizational structure
What is our primary use case?
How has it helped my organization?
Trend Vision One - Cloud Security is a core component of our security system, offering total visibility into everyday activities across our cloud environments. The solution has helped us to automate some things. We usually report high-severity issues to our customers, so they can investigate them manually, but our security team can fix these via automation in some cases.
The tool is doing most of the work from the security perspective. We only assess the results. We have Vision One. If anything appears on Vision One, we can act based on the workbench alerts.
What is most valuable?
I like the conformity and workload security modules. Workload security is all about intrusion detection and prevention. Trend Vision One - Cloud Security has behavioral rules that are auto-populated based on organizational structure. That's one aspect that we liked most.
We purchased Trend Vision One - Cloud Security for its multi-cloud capabilities. We already had the same conformity and workload security technologies from Trend Vision that we extended to our cloud workloads. We haven't seen any security incidents in the past six or seven months.
Cloud Security provides useful contextual data. We are integrated with Elasticsearch, so most of the parsing and use cases are also developed there. We have good results from tracking indicators of compromise, and we are generating lists of malicious IPs.
The solution's cloud workload protection is essential because not everyone is good at building workloads based on best practices. It helps us identify misconfigurations or anything like that, so we don't have to worry about it. There is a lot of risk involved. Cloud Security adds another layer of security.
What needs improvement?
Securing S3 using Cloud Security can cost too much. Trend Vision One - Cloud Security has a tool that requires lots of privileges. From my understanding, it's only for static application testing, so they need to add dynamic application testing, and there should be more collaboration with the application testing tools on the market. We have not used this product, and I don't know if they plan to decommission it or something. They should focus on application security because this tool's unique feature is multi-cloud support. However, they should improve integration with tools for these kinds of use cases, especially application security and dynamic scanning. For example, I would like it to support Dell SecureOps. I'd also like to see some enhancements to API gateway security.
For how long have I used the solution?
We have used Trend Vision One - Cloud Security for about two years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I rate Trend Vision One - Cloud Security nine out of 10 for stability.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
It's easy to scale. Trend Vision One - Cloud Security is all about scalability and elasticity. It's completely covered by Trend Vision. We're adding licenses annually. This year, we've purchased another 500.
How are customer service and support?
I rate Trend Vision support six out of 10. Their support didn't meet expectations. They should offer more training during onboarding so that everyone on the implementation team is knowledgeable about the product. It was a considerable challenge in a massive environment like ours. We have around 5,000 servers on the cloud. Initially, there was no support for seven or eight months.
This year, we have upgraded to premium support, so we don't have these challenges anymore, but there is a cost involved. If you are selling a product, you have a responsibility to inform the customers about its capabilities.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Neutral
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Trend Vision One - Cloud Security was the first product we purchased for this use case, but we did some POCs for CrowdStrike and found that it didn't have the same coverage of multi-cloud platforms. Trend Vision was the first solution with this capability, and CrowdStrike was lagging at the time, but I'm unsure if the market has changed since then.
CrowdStrike lacked a multi-cloud approach. It covered workload security but not application, storage, and network security. Now, maybe Crowdstrike has these services, but I'm not sure.
How was the initial setup?
We found the product complex to understand initially, but we learned about the use cases and modules step by step. When we were configuring the workload security module, we completely blocked the traffic by accident. We had to take time to understand the company's environment on the cloud and create exceptions.
Eventually, we learned how to automate the deployment. We didn't have any documentation from them. We figured it out ourselves. Now, we can fully deploy the solution in one afternoon. It's hassle-free with the use of automation scripts and automation tools.
We required some specialists, including those who worked on the automation part and those who specialized in some of the native cloud services. For example, in AWS, we needed SSM systems managers to help us push it via SSM agents. They're part of cloud operations, so they handle scripting and build the architecture.
What was our ROI?
Trend Vision One - Cloud Security helps us reduce costs on AWS by optimizing consumption. We can forward our reports to the customers and have them fix the issue. You can minimize costs by only enabling security for business-critical workloads and instances. For example, you can enable application security for apps containing personally identifiable information or an S3 bucket where you're storing some invoices. Trend Vision One - Cloud Security has seven modules that you can choose and customize based on your use cases and requirements.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I was not involved in purchasing the solution, but it's my understanding that Cloud Security is affordable.
What other advice do I have?
I rate Trend Vision One - Cloud Security nine out of 10. My advice to new users is to clearly communicate with support and set an agreement for what you expect from this product and Trend Vision's support team.
We can quickly deploy cloud conformity, provides good visibility, and control
What is our primary use case?
We use Trend Vision One - Cloud Security for our cloud security, but we especially love it because we're multi-cloud. We want a single solution that can help us protect, inspect, and gain information about all of our cloud assets, regardless of whether they're in Microsoft Online, Office 365, Azure, or AWS, where we have most of our workload.
We also love that Trend Vision One - Cloud Security is not just an endpoint solution or a DevSecOps add-on. It also has a source code repository, which allows us to put things in our DevOps pipeline to protect them. Additionally, we can use Cloud Conformity, which is part of Trend Vision One - Cloud Security, to monitor our posture management.
This means that Trend Vision One - Cloud Security is not just a reactive solution that runs software on virtual machines or in containers. It can stop problems in the development process before they even happen, even if the code is still on someone's machine or in the pipeline or repository. This helps us protect ourselves in a way that many other solutions cannot.
Before implementing Trend Vision One - Cloud Security, we were facing all sorts of unknown threats, including third-party vulnerabilities and misconfigurations. We need to protect ourselves from bad actors, but that's only half of it. We also have to protect our infrastructure from ourselves. No one on our team is going to intentionally do anything malicious, but they can make mistakes. And I can't monitor every piece of code or infrastructure that my team writes or has. I need a solution that can monitor our infrastructure continuously and notify us of any misconfigurations or mistakes so that we can fix them before they become major problems.
We deployed Trend Vision One - Cloud Security 100 percent on the cloud and we use AWS and Azure.
How has it helped my organization?
I am satisfied with the protection that Trend Vision One - Cloud Security provides for our multi-cloud environment. I need a single pane of glass that will give me the information I need quickly and easily. I set up Trend Vision One - Cloud Security in one afternoon, which I have done before. With one person, it only takes a day or so. Now, it is so simple to get it into any cloud and give it a small permission set to go in there and read our infrastructure, and then get some valuable insights very quickly.
Trend Vision One - Cloud Security provides us with contextual data, which is especially useful when we are acquiring a company or when I take on a new role and need to quickly understand what they have. Trend Vision One - Cloud Security also helps me to quickly correlate information in the DevSec process, as it protects everything. There are three times when a security vulnerability can be caught: when we write the code, when we deploy the code, or when the code is running. If a vulnerability is not caught until the code is running, we probably made a mistake. We can then go back and look at the first two steps to see where we should have caught the issue. I am 100 percent satisfied with the context provided by Trend Vision One - Cloud Security.
Trend Vision One - Cloud Security protects my cloud workloads. If an attack gets past the first two layers, I still need a way to protect the endpoints, whether they're EC2 instances, virtual machines in Azure, or even on-premises servers. I need a single pane of glass to see all of my endpoints. And let's say there's a zero-day attack, something that no one knew about and couldn't have caught. With Workload Security, I don't need to patch it immediately, even if it's a Windows update. Workload Security can patch it for me and put security tools around it. So we use it for patching and filtering, as well as other security needs. It sits on our virtual machines and whatever cloud we use.
The biggest benefit of Trend Vision One - Cloud Security is its single pane of glass view. Other cloud providers, such as AWS and Azure, offer similar features, but they require multiple dashboards and reports. With Trend Vision One - Cloud Security, I have a single pane of glass view of my entire infrastructure. We also use Trend Vision One - Cloud Security for many security needs, including endpoint protection and Office 365 protection. This gives me a single vendor, a single pane of glass, and a single console to manage the security of all of my platforms.
Trend Vision One - Cloud Security gives us full visibility and control of our cloud environments.
When I am asked difficult questions, or when I am going through an audit or other process, I use its reporting and dashboarding capabilities to get all the information I need in one place. This saves me from having to correlate data from different sources, and it helps me to resolve audit and compliance workflows more quickly.
Visibility helps us resolve complexity in our environment by providing quick snapshots of an account. This is especially useful when I'm trying to get an overview of a new workload or a new company, as it allows us to take a snapshot of the environment to make it easier to ingest.
We buy our subscriptions through the marketplace because it's easier. I don't want to buy credits, because I can use the marketplace as needed. It also allows us to quickly bill the subscriptions to our existing account, so I don't have to set up another vendor or billing terms. I can just quickly use the marketplace, choose the subscriptions I want, and pay as I go. It's perfect.
Conformity would give me a good overview of what infrastructure we are using and where we can potentially save costs by emphasizing the infrastructure that we do not necessarily need.
Trend Vision One - Cloud Security protects me in the cloud, protects my registry, and protects my DevOps pipeline. It is not necessary for Trend Vision One - Cloud Security to protect all of these things. Additionally, Trend Vision in general also protects our Office 365 infrastructure, including SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook.
Protecting all the data across our environment is extremely important these days. No matter what industry we're in, it's crucial to understand our data security protocols, where our data is stored, how it's protected, and how it's accessed. This information gives us a single, overarching view of our data security posture, which helps us to identify and remediate misconfigurations and quickly respond to zero-day attacks or compromises. The sooner we know about a security incident, the fewer repercussions we're likely to experience.
What is most valuable?
Detection response and cloud conformity are valuable features. I like how repository scanning helps us to scan our source code. I think these two features have helped me to detect potential threats before they even occur. I have also used cloud conformity when I start working in a new environment, such as a company with cloud infrastructure. Even if I don't know their workloads, I can quickly deploy cloud conformity to get a good understanding of what they have, how secure it is, and where they can improve.
What needs improvement?
Documentation on cloud architecture and job architecture would be helpful. It would also be enlightening to know what security context we get.
Trend Vision One - Cloud Security is a really good product overall, including Trend Vision One - Cloud Security. However, their authorization and authentication could be improved. They have too many different ways to log in to their tools, which can be confusing. It would be better if they had just one or two ways to log in.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Trend Vision One - Cloud Security for six years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Trend Vision One - Cloud Security is stable. I have not experienced any outages.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Trend Vision One - Cloud Security is 100 percent scalable.
How are customer service and support?
In the few interactions I have had with technical support, it has been a great experience. The only area where technical support could improve is in communication. They need to be more clear because there was a time when they sent us a communication that did not clearly explain how the issue would affect our environment.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Neutral
How was the initial setup?
The initial deployment was straightforward. The first time I deployed the solution, many years ago, it was a very different product than it is today. However, it was still very easy to deploy back then. We provide the solution with IAM keys in AWS, and it provisions our environment. If it is a Windows workload, we install an agent. This process was also very straightforward.
After that, I knew that manual deployment could be a pain, so we wanted to automate it. As soon as a VM spins up, the agent is automatically installed and checks in. Just as importantly, the agent also spins down the VM when it is no longer needed. This is very important in the cloud because we scale our environment up and down based on usage. Unlike on-premises environments, cloud environments are not static.
I think the solution is very easy to get started with, and it scales up and down as our business needs change.
Two people completed the deployment.
What about the implementation team?
The implementation was completed in-house.
What was our ROI?
We have seen a return on investment with Trend Vision One - Cloud Security.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The pricing for Trend Vision One - Cloud Security is reasonable because my costs scale up and down based on my infrastructure usage. If I scale up my infrastructure, such as by adding a new workload, my AWS and security costs will both increase. However, if I scale down my infrastructure, my security costs will also decrease. This is not the case with other vendors, where I may still have to pay for security even if I scale down my infrastructure.
For example, if I implement traditional security measures, such as gate guards and guns, I will still have to pay for these security measures even if I scale down my infrastructure. However, with Trend Vision One - Cloud Security, I am charged based on my usage of security features, such as the number of host-based agents I have deployed, the number of times my DevOps pipeline runs, or the amount of data I store in my repository. This means that I can save money on security costs if my team scales down and my DevOps pipeline slows down.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
I've implemented Trend Vision One - Cloud Security four times now, with different companies and organizations. I also spent some time directly with AWS, and I did a lot of work with Palo Alto and their firewalls, both in the cloud and with their Prisma Cloud. It was just a pain. It took so much more time to set up and configure, and the mean time to value was insane compared to Trend Vision One - Cloud Security.
Check Point Firewall in AWS is also a problem. Both of these solutions require us to rearchitect our application, infrastructure, and network design so that we can protect it. That's why we love Trend Vision One - Cloud Security. It's right on the endpoints, instances, or virtual machines. It's a host-based firewall instead of a gate guards and guns mentality of putting something at the front door.
The big difference between the cloud and on-premises is that our house or data center has one front door, one thing to go in and one thing to go out. The cloud is not the case. It's hard to do that gate guards and guns approach with one firewall in the cloud. It's possible, but from a cost perspective, it just doesn't scale. Instead of having one door, we might now have a hundred or a thousand, and we can't put that same firewall over and over again.
So, we have to change how we do security in the cloud, and that's where I think Trend Vision One - Cloud Security really excelled early on. Everyone else didn't get it first. And I think everyone is trying to catch up to Trend Vision One - Cloud Security, but that's why we went with them originally. They changed the way we think about security and how we're going to secure our infrastructure based on our architecture. The other competitors are falling behind, and they're still trying to secure the cloud the same way they secured the data center, which doesn't work from a cost-and-scale perspective.
What other advice do I have?
I would rate Trend Vision One - Cloud Security nine out of ten.
We have about a hundred users. We are still in the early stages of our cloud journey, but I have used Cloud Security with thousands of users in the past. Thousands of daily users access our information and workflows.
Trend Vision approaches our business like a partnership. That's one of the reasons we keep coming back. Anytime I call or need something, Trend Vision One - Cloud Security is there hand-in-hand. If they make a mistake, something gets pushed out, or it doesn't go exactly how it should have, they take ownership. That's the only reason I've been a customer for so long: because they take ownership and they care.
It only takes a couple of hours to set up a proof of concept and get it running. I recommend that organizations try Trend Vision One - Cloud Security for themselves.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
Good Comprehensive Cloud Security Solution
Trend Micro Hybrid Cloud Security supports are user base across various platforms
Provides excellent documentation and enables organizations to optimize configurations
What is our primary use case?
We have a lot of services that we develop and deploy onto the cloud. We use different cloud providers like AWS and Microsoft Azure. We use Trend Vision for storage services. The product is deployed in one location, but multiple teams use it.
How has it helped my organization?
Most of the services that we had before were running on-premise. One of the main advantages we saw in the product was that we didn't have to take care of the hardware. That's why we were shifting to the cloud. The tool has saved us a lot of resources, like hardware costs and the personnel required to take care of all the hardware. It also saves us a lot of time.
What is most valuable?
The storage and computing features are valuable. We have a lot of video files stored on the cloud provider. We need to do a lot of uploads and downloads from these files. We also need to do a lot of transcoding.
What needs improvement?
The dashboard should be a bit easier to use. We need to search around a bit for certain configurations. The dashboard should be a bit more intuitive.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using the solution for about two years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The tool has been pretty stable so far.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Four teams in our organization use the solution. Overall, 20 to 25 people are using the solution. The solution requires maintenance once a month. The tool is scalable. We had some use cases where we needed to scale up some components. It worked pretty well. My organization is planning to expand the use of the product.
How was the initial setup?
I was a part of the teams involved in deploying the solution in our company. The initial deployment was pretty straightforward. We faced a couple of issues, but they were resolved quickly, and we could get it up and running pretty quickly.
What about the implementation team?
Somebody from Trend Vision was involved during the initial phases of the initial setup. Later, when we were integrating more components, we did it in-house. We mainly followed the documentation that was available to deploy the product. We also looked into certain tutorials step by step when some things were not working according to our environment. Sometimes, we just used trial and error methods to get it up and running. We also looked for solutions in forums.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
We evaluated other software, but Trend Vision One - Cloud Security was the most fitting according to our requirements. We were using AWS and Microsoft Azure and needed a setup for our storage and computing services. The integration that Trend Vision One - Cloud Security provided fits the best for our specific use cases.
What other advice do I have?
At the moment, we do not use Trend Vision One - Cloud Security to protect a multi-cloud environment, but we are looking into it. It is on our agenda to implement it next. The information we require from the tool is currently being provided and accessible. We are not using Trend Vision One - Cloud Security.
All the configurations we need to look at are accessible to us. It is pretty important for us that we are able to look into everything we deployed and see what's running and how much is being used. We can see all the information that's required. We do certain optimizations, but we're not very deep into the complexity to see how to optimize everything.
We use AWS services separately. Currently, we don't have it integrated into Trend Vision One - Cloud Security. We do some optimizations using the tool, and it decreases costs for certain use cases. However, another group is responsible for looking into the total cost.
Trend Vision One - Cloud Security provides pretty good visibility into our cloud architecture. However, we're not deep into security. The tool has helped us see certain things that could be optimized or configured better. It might not be misconfiguration. There are some configurations that work and can be optimized to work better and reduce costs.
At the moment, we only use the product for the cloud infrastructure because we want to migrate all of our on-premise data onto the cloud. Trend VIsion approaches us like a customer. When we start using the security aspect, it might help us with better integrations with other cloud platforms. We also have a cloud solution from VMware, but it's currently running on-premise. Having integrations with other solutions would be pretty good.
Trend Vision One - Cloud Security is the first solution that we used. I know the pricing only for the services I'm responsible for, but I'm not aware of the total cost within our company. Other teams in my organization have contacted the support team. The solution is scalable and works pretty well for our current use cases.
The tool works pretty well for most integrations. It also has good documentation. People wanting to use the product must read the documentation and look at each use case. It would be a good way to get started with the solution.
Overall, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
A well-designed solution with a straightforward implementation that can be used for endpoint security
What is our primary use case?
We use Trend Vision One - Cloud Security mostly for endpoint security. There are more things that we're going to get into, but we mostly use it right now for endpoint security.
How has it helped my organization?
Trend Vision One - Cloud Security addressed our organization's pain points related to cost and things related to it. The nicest experience with Trend Vision One - Cloud Security is that I haven't had any real issues, and it's doing its job effectively. People can access things as they want, and productivity is not impacted. Security and productivity are sometimes inversely related. If you have more security and authentication, you put employees through more steps, sometimes affecting their ability to do their jobs. I haven't had that concern with Trend Vision One - Cloud Security.
What is most valuable?
I really like Trend Vision One - Cloud Security's dashboard. I think dashboards, in general, have become standard. What I like about the solution's dashboard is that it provides you with a lot of detailed information. You can easily work through it to determine whatever the issue is. I really like the solution's dashboards with its colors and icons. I am busy, and I have a lot of systems to worry about.
I appreciate systems that bring me the information clearly so that I can quickly figure out what's going on and address it. The way it's set up, where you can create rules and priorities of how the user should be treated, is fairly easy. It's centralized and more simple. It has a lot of drop-down menus that make it easier to navigate. Those are the things I appreciate the most about Trend Vision One - Cloud Security.
What needs improvement?
Trend Vision One - Cloud Security should address threats automatically without having user input. The solution should be more intuitive and do its job well because we don't want it to impact users who are not malicious.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Trend Vision One - Cloud Security for about 18 months.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Trend Vision One - Cloud Security One is a stable solution.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Trend Vision One - Cloud Security is a scalable solution. A few 1,000 users are using it in our organization.
How are customer service and support?
I normally do web searches before I go to technical support because I feel I can figure it out. You generally want somebody a little more knowledgeable than you are to assist you with technical support. You usually don't have frontline engineers taking phone calls. However, you at least feel like they have enough information to provide value or guidance on a particular issue.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Positive
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We were previously using Microsoft Defender. We had to eventually stop using it because it was not working well. It was creating redundancies and other issues and slowing things down.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is more straightforward than complicated. It went fairly well. We had a couple of hiccups, but it was nothing major.
What about the implementation team?
We implemented the solution through an in-house staff. The solution is deployed across the organization. We have two co-located locations.
What was our ROI?
We have seen a return on investment with Trend Vision One - Cloud Security. I haven't had major issues like downtime or malicious attacks that caused the company hours of productivity. With Trend Vision One - Cloud Security, we haven't had any data breaches or data seizures. After the solution's implementation, I haven't had productivity issues. The solution is doing its job and preventing worst-case scenarios.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
With everything I deal with, Trend Vision One - Cloud Security's pricing is somewhere in the middle. The general price was a concern, but it was more about finding the right solution for us. The pricing of most of the solutions I looked at was fairly competitive with each other. So, at the end of the day, price wasn't the biggest factor.
What other advice do I have?
We wanted a solution that would fully integrate with our existing systems and not necessarily replace existing ones while ensuring that everything worked together. Although almost every solution promises universal compatibility, more often than not, it's a gigantic misnomer, and a lot of solutions don't talk to each other correctly. Solutions don't integrate correctly, and they create other additional problems. The more general answer is finding a solution to protect the organization better as the number of devices expands exponentially.
We're hiring people. Everyone has at least three or four devices now and wants access to the cloud. It creates concern on my part. There are many entrance points, which is a huge deal, and they're able to productively use all their different devices successfully. In IT, you almost want to be invisible. We're almost like referees in sports. You only hear about us if something goes wrong. You don't really hear about us if everything runs smoothly.
So, I needed a solution that I could trust. Pricing wasn't a huge deal. I would consider Trend Vision a market leader, although it's hard to say because there are so many big and small companies. In my research process, I normally talk to folks in similar companies to figure out what solutions they've tried and what's working well. That way, it gives me more evidence because my credibility is based on a successful rollout and a successful implementation of a system.
If it doesn't go well, that makes it that much harder for me to do the next one. So, I do a ton of research. I compare solutions and talk to other IT people about their experiences with different solutions.
I have a multi-cloud environment, and we use Trend Vision One - Cloud Security to protect it. I like its ability to anticipate. Sometimes, hackers mess around and do different kinds of penetrations where they're trying to attack the network. It's like a precursor to an actual attack, which Trend Vision One - Cloud Security is able to detect. So, you get an extra layer of protection that gives you a heads-up when somebody's probing your system.
The solution warns you about people out there who are looking to penetrate your system and get access to your data even though they haven't sent anything malicious yet. Any kind of automation where the system is learning and addressing things up front without assistance from an IT person is very, very helpful. It just creates another layer of security that makes my job easier and makes me feel safer.
I have days where I'm concentrating on other things, and I have to take a vacation every once in a while. I don't want things to go off the rails when I am not around. So, it's nice to have systems in place that are doing that job and making sure that the system is protected.
The details in the data are very helpful. They put threats in the context of a global basis to inform us of similar threats seen elsewhere. For example, a giant casino corporation, MGM, was hacked by a ransomware attack. That taught me that you can have the greatest system in the world, but it doesn't really matter. If something like the MGM attack happens to us, I'll get all kinds of emails from my management.
They would ask me if we are protected, and it would spike their interest for a second. However, they would calm down within a week and get on with something else. I can assure them that we have procedures in place that wouldn't allow somebody to call up and somehow get admin passwords reset.
It's always helpful to be able to go back to them and say that I feel confident in the system that we have to protect us from such attacks, and it's working well. Our management is worried about productivity and sales, and they want to know that I'm confident everything is good.
I use Trend Vision One - Cloud Security, and it provides protection for all cloud workloads. We considered it with every kind of potential system, like an A la carte or a more robust system containing the A la carte parts. I like a security product that would address all the different issues.
There are things related to programming that I haven't even addressed yet. In general, it's a nice, robust system. There's no fear of integration because it's one system. I know the back end has been correctly configured, and it will work well because it's all the same engineers and the same company.
It is always more helpful to have a more robust solution because you don't have to go back and deal with additions, which can have an impact on productivity, and that's not good.
I found the solution's visibility very robust. I really feel like there's more to explore. The solution's visibility, detail, and advice on how to address it have been good. With some systems like Microsoft, you have to go in and follow the instructions, similar to building a piece of furniture for IKEA. Trend Vision One - Cloud Security seems a little better than that. It's a little easier to navigate the solution.
Like Microsoft, Trend Vision One - Cloud Security has a facility where you can go somewhere to get advice or feedback if you have an issue or a question. I haven't had too much trouble navigating the system successfully. That tells me it's built intelligently, keeping the end user in mind.
The solution's full visibility has been very helpful in producing reports, producing data related to compliance, and also just being compliant in general. In order to be able to report or know whether we're being compliant, you need that visibility and data. Compliance, in general, has a long way to go, and I know there are companies trying to deal with that. Compliance, in general, is important.
We have some state-federal things we have to worry about. I try to follow the guidelines that different organizations come up with because they're thoughtful. They put a bunch of engineers in a room and try to devise how things should work. Having a platform with good visibility and the ability to get that information quickly is very helpful.
The full visibility and control of our cloud environments affect our ability to resolve complexity in those environments because it breaks it down. It's able to do some analysis on its own and give you some insight into addressing it. That makes the issue less complex and easier to address.
The solution has done a pretty good job of controlling costs on AWS. I think it has additional value to that. The solution has saved us tens of thousands of dollars on AWS costs per month.
Trend Vision One - Cloud Security gives us insights into the cloud security posture and the entire cloud architecture. I find it to be a more user-friendly and easier way to get the information I need and monitor the things I need successfully.
The solution protects all data, whether on-premises or in the cloud. That's part of the reason we went with it because you can use it on-prem and cloud. Some solutions are only cloud, and I don't know of any solutions that are just on-prem. I've been with the company for three and a half years. We were a lot of on-prem when I started, but we've migrated a lot. Some of the solutions I looked at did not have that ability, which was a must-have.
I looked at a bunch of different solutions before choosing Trend Vision One - Cloud Security. Our biggest issue was we needed a solution that would do on-prem and cloud, and such solutions were few. If Amazon, Google, or Microsoft have a solution, that makes it easier for me to sell to management because those are companies they've worked with for decades. I would talk to people and ask them what they're using and how they feel about it.
I also ask them about a solution's customer service and follow-up. Technology salespeople always present their solution as the one that will solve all your problems. I do a ton of research on the front end because once I sign my name and start implementing something, it better work well. I look at a lot of third-party analysis and testing. I also look at the websites, but mostly, technology overpromises and under-delivers. So, it's important to get feedback from people who are using it successfully.
Whenever I roll out new technology, especially something of this size and scope, I always make sure that I give myself room and time to do things in case there are issues. In general, over the last 20 years, solutions have improved on their implementation. The engineers are doing a much better job of talking to customers, taking feedback, and creating systems that could be implemented in a more straightforward manner. A lot of progress has been made in the implementation part, and Trend Vision One - Cloud Security is a good example.
There's an ongoing interaction with Trend Vision One - Cloud Security because it's a monitoring solution. There have been updates, but we haven't faced any downtime or similar issues.
Three of us are admins officially. I handle the bulk of the solution. The person who did the implementation is also an admin, and we have another person on my team. I wanted to ensure that no matter the circumstances, we would have somebody who felt comfortable using the solution successfully.
Trend Vision approaches our business like a partnership, creating solutions that make sense for my particular company. Trend Vision demonstrates that partnership through their product's usability, quality, thoughtfulness, and design. Trend Vision understands that there are companies like mine that are on-prem plus cloud.
They try to position themselves for particular markets by having a solution that deals with the needs of companies like ours. They have a product that is broad in its appeal and works well enough for different company sizes.
Trend Vision One - Cloud Security is a well-designed solution. The solution has been successful over the time we've had it implemented, and its implementation was straightforward.
I advise users to talk to people like me who have implemented the solution. The best place to get an answer about the solution's features is from somebody who's using it. If you're looking at a solution, ask somebody using it about their level of satisfaction and what the solution's real-world implementation was like.
Testimonials are great, but the company will only use the good ones. So, do a lot of homework on the front end and pick your products wisely because your reputation is on the line every time.
Overall, I rate Trend Vision One - Cloud Security an eight out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
Helps organizations understand their environment better, but it doesn't show violations for specific compliances
What is our primary use case?
My organization uses Trend Vision One - Cloud Security and to get information based on business-critical applications running on the cloud environment. We get information on workload security, vulnerabilities, or third-party package issues. We also focus on configuration management changes that are suspicious.
Four teams in our organization use the tool across multiple regions. Since my team is an information security team, we have visibility into all the different teams and how they use it. We support the teams with alerts and issues. If an alert comes up, someone from my team will respond. If we need more information, we work with the team impacted because of the alert to understand the issue and do the remediation with them.
How has it helped my organization?
We implemented Trend Vision One - Cloud Security to enhance our security and visibility into different cloud networks, especially on AWS. We deal with different environments, storage, and S3 buckets. We wanted to ensure we have full visibility of file-based threats, network threats, and any misconfigurations we may have when a new environment is being spun out.
We can detect crypto mining easily, see what's going on, and block it. Lastly, we use the tool to focus on compliance because we need to stay compliant. The tool really helps drive our compliance information and deliver requirements to auditors and other regulatory organizations that need necessary information from us.
The biggest jump has been on the compliance side. We actively see the vulnerabilities, the third-party package issues, misconfigurations, and network threats. The solution is helping us get the information and do the remediation to achieve compliance. We do SOC 2 and PCI. We are able to drive our vulnerability management program well.
What is most valuable?
Trend Vision One - Cloud Security helps us take proactive actions on network threats and cloud misconfiguration. These are the two pain points that we are trying to solve. The product helps us understand our environment better.
What needs improvement?
They should provide a way for users to see violations for specific compliance. Suppose I focus on SOC 2 or PCI compliance. If I see an alert that tells me the exact details of the control for the compliance I'm violating, I can prioritize the remediation of the issue and ensure that the systems are compliant. I'll be able to provide evidence to the auditors accordingly.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using the solution for a year and a few months.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The solution is pretty robust. It beat out other competitors we were looking at in the market. We feel comfortable and happy that Trend Vision can meet all our business use cases.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
About 70 to 75 people are using the product in our organization. The product is scalable. That is why we are rolling out more environments into it and looking to add more non-AWS cloud providers like GCP. We are testing GCP with Trend Vision.
How are customer service and support?
The technical support has been good so far. Right now, our issues are about ensuring we understand the system because it's just been a year and a few months. We are rolling out new things and onboarding new environments. The support has been good. We have had no issues.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We used Sumo Logic, but it wasn't as robust as Trend Vision One - Cloud Security. Sumo Logic didn't have enough visibility for us to understand the compliance gaps in our cloud environment. It was a manual process. Somebody had to read through all the information to provide that.
How was the initial setup?
The product is currently deployed on AWS, and we are also rolling it on GCP. My team and the infrastructure team were involved in the deployment of the solution. The initial deployment was pretty much straightforward. We did the testing with the Trend Vision team and the internal teams to ensure it meets our needs.
Once we felt comfortable, we slowly did the beta testing in one environment and looked at different reports and results. The internal team learned how to use the platform to the best. Then, we slowly rolled it out into different environments. From start to finish, the entire process was about two months.
What about the implementation team?
A Trend Vision team of two to three people helped us with the onboarding. When there's an update, we get information on the new release from Trend Vision. Someone from my team does the testing to ensure that nothing breaks down if we push the update. Once we feel comfortable, we push the changes. Usually, there's a small amount of downtime to ensure everything is working.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
We looked into a few other tools to see how they can help us and whether they meet our current use case. Trend Vision One - Cloud Security was the one that came up on top. We sought information from all the vendors on areas like detection and response, compliance, and remediation. In remediation, we saw what elements Trend Vision was reporting on and how much information we had to make a judgment and act upon it. Trend Vision's platform did a great job in helping us break down the different silos, understand the visibility of threats, and secure our business-critical applications.
What other advice do I have?
We have recently started onboarding some elements on GCP. We are using Trend Vision One - Cloud Security on both AWS and GCP. It is an initial use case to test and see how we can ramp up in GCP. It's an ongoing journey.
Trend Vision One - Cloud Security provides context to the data it provides to us. The alerts that come up have full information. It really helps us understand the issue, whether it is a false positive, known behavior, or an issue we need to resolve. Accordingly, our team can make the judgment.
We do not use Trend Vision One - Cloud Security. It is something that we are planning on using as we expand our cloud environment. We'll need to see what applications are being run. It can help us in resource planning and add more visibility to our cloud environment.
The solution has helped us reduce costs on AWS. Cloud misconfigurations help us understand where to save on the provisioning account. When we spin up the environment and see unnecessary resources, we can definitely cut back on them. It really helps us understand our cost. We can work with the infrastructure team to provide the reporting so they can make the adjustments accordingly. The tool has helped us save 50,000 to 60,000 per month.
Trend Vision One - Cloud Security gives us insights not only into the cloud security posture but also into the entire cloud architecture to a certain extent. We are slowly rolling Trend Vision One - Cloud Security into different areas. As we onboard new systems and applications, we get more and more visibility. Our initial use case focused on the cloud applications and ensuring they run as they should.
As we see more use cases popping up, we're able to onboard new things on Trend Vision One - Cloud Security and deploy them. We have better visibility. In another six to ten months, we will see a lot more improvement in how we handle security issues and how much more useful Trend Vision One - Cloud Security is for us. We want to ensure that all our resources, network, storage, and pipelines for source codes are secure. The more things we do, the better it will be for us. It's a lot to take on right now, so we are slowly rolling it out.
The product is only for the cloud. We are a customer of the solution. We didn't think about being a partner. It was never a thought that we came across. The tool is value-driven. If my organization is on the cloud and I need insight and visibility, Trend Vision would give us a good return on investment. It really helps me drive the conversation with my internal team and the senior leadership. We can show them how there has been a huge culture shift in how we respond to different security issues after deploying the solution.
There's a lot we can do with Trend Vision. We haven't fully reached the product’s true potential. As we're making that journey with Trend Vision, we are doing more and more things and learning more about the product and different areas we can utilize. In the next six to ten months, we see our use cases improving from seven and a half out of ten to almost an eight and a half to nine.
Anybody evaluating the solution should consider how the tool would enable the developers or the infrastructure team, how they would automate security and compliance checks, and how they plan to use Trend Vision for auto-remediation issues. It will really help drive a lot of business use cases. It will help the new customer understand how Trend Vision helps with the key use cases we see daily and how to ensure that the infrastructure stays compliant. We consistently show compliance, and our cloud security doesn't go down.
Overall, I rate the product a seven and a half out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
Easy to deploy, and detection rate for malware is beyond that of any other solution
What is our primary use case?
We are mostly using it for cloud workload security, that is endpoint and workload security.
How has it helped my organization?
Recently, it has helped in reducing costs. When we go through AWS Marketplace, it's a great benefit. It has saved us between $1,000 and $3,000 per month.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable features are intrusion prevention and anti-malware capabilities.
We use Trend Vision One - Cloud Security to protect multi-cloud and hybrid cloud environments, and it's better than Microsoft Defender for Cloud, which I also work with. When we consider the monitoring part for L1 and L2, it is quite easy. We see alerts for events with suspicious activities being triggered as soon as they are executed or hit the servers or endpoints. And for L1, it enables us to take immediate action by contacting our customers. It's quite responsive and immediate.
We can pull 5,000 events or logs from the Trend Vision One - Cloud Security console. Often, when a customer has some kind of event, there is no delay with the logs. It's possible to share the data with the customer, whatever they're looking for. Recently, there were some issues for one of our customers and they wanted to check the firewall logs. We were able to send them to the customer.
It also gives us full visibility and control over cloud environments. In addition, there is protection for all data, whether on-premises or in the cloud. It's quite smooth. It's something that is in the background, and it doesn't impact our customers.
What needs improvement?
It is a recently launched product, and they need to consider the pricing.
There are also some loopholes because it's a new product that they have recently migrated to the cloud. We do see some issues with the policies we have assigned when it comes to a particular account. There are some issues with system support, such as a particular server kernel version that is not supported. When we contact them, they share it with their developers, and they are able to sort it out, but not that quickly. It takes research and investigation.
For how long have I used the solution?
We have been working with Trend Vision for about eight years.
How are customer service and support?
Trend Vision support stands behind us and we are able to solve most issues. In the beginning, there were some issues and we got in touch with their support, and they were quite helpful with whatever complications we came across.
They approach the relationship with us like a partnership.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Positive
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We had an on-premises security manager, but we feel that Trend Vision One - Cloud Security is the best option on the market. It is easy to deploy, and the detection rate for malware is beyond that of any other antivirus solution. And the greatest feature is the intrusion prevention. They are able to release tools that overcome vulnerabilities when patches have not even been released by the vendors.
Apart from that, the application control, which is a new module, allows Trend Vision One - Cloud Security to communicate with the XDR, and that is also a very good feature. Although we don't have that much experience with the XDR, that seems to be a better feature because it gives us a complete overview of exactly what is happening.
How was the initial setup?
I am the Trend Vision subject matter lead for our organization, so I'm involved with deployment from scratch. I do the deployment and work with the customer.
The initial setup is quite easy for me, but I have been in the field for a long time. I can usually complete it in a day. It depends on the customer because some of their servers may be production servers, and it depends on their availability. But at my end, I'm ready within 24 hours, creating policies, folders, et cetera.
I generally do it alone, and that's enough manpower. The initial step is that we need to get details from the customer regarding what kind of solution they want, what kinds of servers and how many servers they have.
The solution does not require any maintenance.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The price could be lower. That is a bit of a consideration.
Maintenance and support are included.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
We evaluated Sentinel, Defender, and CrowdStrike. I have been using Trend Vision for many years, so that is usually what I choose. It is more convenient for me. I would not say that other products are not good, but Trend Micro's detection rate, anti-malware capabilities, and intrusion prevention are the best parts.
What other advice do I have?
We have multiple accounts, one for each customer, so we keep them separate. There are no issues regarding the data or issues that have been reported and that have to be sorted out.
So far, it has been quite easy for us. We haven't seen any issues or restrictions. We haven't seen any leaks of data. All seems to be good.
With my understanding and the comparisons I have made, when it comes to security nowadays, it's more than a question of money. Customers are more concerned about security, and they are ready to spend more money on security. Most of our customers are slowly moving to Trend Micro.
Perfect cloud security solution!
1. Visibility around the cloud environment
2. Compliance management
3. Vulnerability assessment in the cloud
4. It is all -in -one solution; we need not use multiple solutions, which has given me better ROI and better management.
